couple of game play question on order stance and sighting

Im going through manual (kinda slow since I keep wanting to play instead).
Two questions.
1) If i give a rush order and squad reaches destination during the first order phase, does it stay in rush mode for rest of that order phase and through the reaction phaase, or does it revert to "defend" stance as soon as it gets to deest.
2) For sighting factors through smoke, table shows -5 per hit, but for smoke, what is a "hit" does it need to hit two separate clouds of smoke or is a hit a certain number of meters of smoke?
thanks,
rick

Hi Rick,

If you give a platoon Rush orders in the Orders phase and it arrives at its destination in that phase, then it will auto-switch to Defend orders in the Reaction phase. Basically, a Rushing platoon will always auto-switch to Defend the phase after it arrives at its destination.
2) For sighting factors through smoke, table shows -5 per hit, but for smoke, what is a "hit" does it need to hit two separate clouds of smoke or is a hit a certain number of meters of smoke?
The smoke is generated in sections and each section can be "hit" by the LOS ray as it passes through. If you look carefully at a cloud of smoke as it builds up you'll see those sections appearing, expanding and overlaying each other. Each of those sections that the ray has to "hit" on the way to the target reduces the sighting factors by 5.

- Erik
