Where there's a will, there's a way...
With the demise of Madden PC, disgruntled but ingenuitive Madden PC users have organized themselves into teams to essentially create their own version of a Madden '09 PC using a modified and altered Madden '08. Discoveries within the engine by some talented folk (some of whom you may already be familar with from our very own forums [;)] ) have already lead to some great things. The potential for this project seems to be growing daily.
For more details, and to see what's been going on, visit
Football-Freaks NFL 09 PC Mod Project .
Thought some of you may be interested. [8D]

The only way I think it would be worth much is if they could figure out how to get TexMod to automaticly run with Madden so they could edit unis and stadiums better. I guess there trying to be the "MVPMods" of Madden, but you can't edit Madden much. I love that in Maximum Football. They are also trying to create a NCAA franchise, but you can only have 32 teams. Will online play still be avilible for Madden 08? I'm asking because if it isn't and MaxFB gets it with 3.0 then a lot of online guys will ether switch to consoles or buy Maximum Football.

It all looks very interesting. I hope that project does not cause so many of the helpful people around here to become scarce. The community centered around this game is important; but it's small. It can't afford to have its key members disappear.

The imputous, in-part, I think, is fueled by the desire to "
stick it to EA". Seeing how it is coming along, and based upon the talent involved, there's no doubt in my mind that they will get something very good accomplished, better than the original Madden '08 - how much, remains to be determined (but I have a strong feeling it will end up being more than simply a roster update with new team and stadium graphics - they are making discoveries about things they can change that were never thought possible previously).

My thoughts too...but I believe JD is still very much committed to MaxFB as well. The man loves to program and tinker and he is well respected in the Madden community, but I know he likes MaxFB very much and I'm sure he won't abandon it...he'll just be very busy.
As for me, I may only lend a hand towards the end in the slider development department...and even that, I'm unsure of...

It's also unfortunate that Max 3.0 isn't on the very near horizon, as I'm sure that a full slate of GM features and online capabilities (with a polishing of the animation and graphics) would probably really take off about now, or in the coming months (with all that has transpired in the PC football world). I bet David is just kicking himself about the timing - but then again, who could predict???
Maybe Matrix will have the good foresight to realize a golden opportunity and increase the budget of this title substantially (and get David a programming team)...
...just my rambling thoughts...

Well personally, I'm so fed up with Madden - PERIOD
sick of being ripped off and having to make do with the poor amount of effort thats put toward pc madden titles
even the PS2 versions of madden are better than on pc.
I'll never go back - no matter what gets done to it to alter it, or by who
Madden is dead to me
a new King is crowned called "Maximum Football" LONG LIVE THE KING

Man, whoever wrote that program must be a GENIUS! I wish he wrote some programs for us over here.... [;)]

Well, if you're worried about me, don't be. As Redwolf said, I just like to program. The people over at Football-Freaks need my help to get started as they basically have very little DAT editors. And, since there is a workable player editor over here now, I figured I'd take a little break to help them over at FF. But, I am nearly done with the updated version of the MaxFB DB Editor. Soon... very soon...
All in all, what they've discovered over at FF is pretty cool stuff. It really is a shame that EA never amounted to half of what they could have. It's a good thing they have people over there to make the game WAY better. And, it's a good thing there's people like David who make games right the first time.

That dude IS a genius. And since he DOES write programs for us over here, I'll just say...thanks. You rock, JD, and so does this community as a whole. The football gaming world deserves people like what can be found here and at other similar grass-roots projects. It's what makes it all worthwhile!
And, I agree; David Winter has been a catalyst for change and we all appreciate his dedication and effort.
Go team!

There is always room for more. I have generally always bought and played most all of the PC football titles that are available. And would buy and try any future PC football titles, and any Madden enhancements, that would make those games similar to MaxFB. But, to chip away at my MaxFB time, you would have to match its current feature list and then some.
But, even with that, I wouldnt leave MFB. I would just make time to play other games. What would happen is Civ4 and Rome: Total War would get shoved to the back burner.

Brett Favre will be on the cover for the EA Sports version of Madden 09. I guess EA doesn't like the "curse" LOL

Aaron Rogers will be the first player to get injured from the Madden curse and not get the cash for being on the cover. Playing in Favre's shadow will haunt his career.
