Pilot Training Air to Air, Airfield - how ill it all come together ?

Hi,

I would like to ask about pilot training esp fighters

At the moment I do not consider it gamey for pilots to attack defended airfields and ground units for general training, escort does not seem to improve exp at all from what I can see

In AE I assume pilots will receive different experience on flying these seperate missions but actually flying any mission should help with experience in all missions though I do accept exp from flying ATA for fighters should maybe be more.

This issue will be critical for the japs . In my existing games I would say by mid 43 my bombers are all high 70 s but my fighters are all low 60 s despite being able to train in China .

When playing Flight sims I only got good enough to engage ATA after myself flying a lot of ground attack etc .

Please advise any comments on this issue

Regards

Michael

Hmmm, dont known about pilot model in AE, but IMHO it will ideal if ve have general expierces - incresing doesnt matter which mission you fly (affecting general performance), and specializacion profincy (air to air, A-G, A-S - with levels e.q bad, poor, good, excelent, ace) which only increase of flying desired mission. training only improve weapon branch (for figtter only A-A). But beware 90 exp pilot t bad a-g can be better than 50 exp pilot at good a-g.

I believe you gain exp by ATA, ATG, ATS, maybe ASW and even Patrol.  Not sure, it's in the air thread somewhere.

My concern is that, even with a more skill-specific model, you will still see bombers hitting undefended base which will pump the ATG skill, which is certainly very useful.  If it's going to be harder to gain ATA exp (because you actually need to engage in ATA), it should be likewise as challenging to gain ATG skill.

And it will be best if some skills are exclusive to others - e.q doing ground attack wll decrease pilot ability in A-A, becouse flying a-g missions require tight formations in fight for good anti-fighter cover, pilot leving defence on gunners. Flying A-A require agresive manuevers to outmanuever enemy.
And for fighters - it will decrese a-a, because in a-g configration is very hard to perform dogfight manuvers.
OTOH doing a-g mission will give small exps to A-S because of simmiliarity.
