HQ Helper

I dont understand what this is. I find nothing regarding it in the manual, and searching this forum turns up nada. My guess is that you would use it in lieu of fighting a particular battle? Like you got slaughtered last battle and need reinforcements, or you want a preparatory bombardment for the next battle, but then why not use it every battle?

Can someone explain this feature to me, please?

Also, another question. Is it WAD that in a random 41 campaign, all my troops begin as Elites? Is there no way to make my core troops begin as green? Did they really become "elite" in Poland and Denmark?

I believe it was covered in one of the addendums in the Documentation folder in the Kharkov Start Menu folder.

In short, if you are fighting a random campaign and you come up against a battle that you cannot win, you can save your campaign, run the HQ Helper and ask for help in that battle. Depending on the Replacement setting you chose when you generated the campaign, you will have a limited set of "help requests". Each time you request a bombardment, the opposing force is reduced by 25%. Requesting reinforcements adds 25% to your own points. This can be used in combination with the "Easy" difficulty setting to replay a battle where you have 25% more points and the enemy has 50% less so that your campaign can continue. It's basicaly a fancy "help button".

Depends on the campaign (in some only one platoon is Elite of the core force - I think the 7th Panzer has the most Elites), but yes by design many of the 1941 forces start as Elite based on prior experience from Poland to France. Chances are they won't stay Elite once you start replacing losses though.

- Erik

Hey, you should come back for a visit someday. Just went for a walk today and got a whiff actually. [8D] The weather here is gorgeous this time of year.

Erik,

Considering the RCG was a last minute addition, I was wondering if you had plans in the furture for plugging-in the HQhelper directly into the campaign briefing so it could apply the help without having to exit out of the game.

My screenshot is an artist redition of what it would look like ...

Thanks!
Rob

Yes, we'd like to integrate that into the game itself in the future.

Erik, Mraah

If you incorporated it into the game, rather than jumping to the reinforce/bombard screen - I'd still have the mechanic for requesting help first. It would be all too easy to click on choice before realzing it was you last "help".

Yeah, I know way too soon to be commenting on feature this far ahead.

Thanks for great game, the current one I mean.
