It may appear that I've been more "negative" than positive to the game. But I wanted to clarify.
I'm currently undergoing the transition from CM player to PC player, and it's no easy feat. Will be for some, but not for me.
So things I poitn out as potential issues or things I'm not over joyed about can and should be construed as "bedding in" complaints.
I can and will say this, for all it's "faults" (those are my observations...not necessarily faults) I am still playing this game and the more I do the more I enjoy it.
One other thing. From what I've seen, the briefings are great. They are only text based, but they make for an interesting read and they do give quite abit of atmosphere...they seem like real missions...and it's been along time since I've seen that in a game...especially with text driven briefings.
Well done.

JD - If I can piggy back on your comments - I agree. including about the briefings. I was particulary happy to see briefings in the random battles, granted not as good as the canned scenarios, but still more than I expected.

Thank you - I've noticed that there really is a transition from CM to PC as far as learning the system and oddly enough the fact that they appear similar visually seems to make it a bit harder to get your head around. I'm glad you're getting the hang of it and having fun!

That's probably what's called hitting the nail on the head.
If I was to be preciise, the two things I've had to take my time getting to grips with, it's...
- Squads (CM wise) coming as 3 squads in PC...i other words, not having total freedom to allocate seperate orders to every individual squad. As mentioned by other people, they feel it's more realistic. I don't know about that, but I am "with it" now
- 2 seperate phases. In other words, I don't have control of my units every 40 seconds...I now see my command phases at 80 second intervals and I now look at the reaction phase as a bonus phase
But the briefings are engaging...whoever wrote them deserves a pat on the back. [&o]

I'll be buying this one. I never could immerse myself with any of the CM's although I own them all. The battle sizes were just way off. I just got so sick of Tigers and 88's etc being knocked out time and time again because of the map sizes. I also thought that infantry was pretty useless if tanks were around. I really wish that Matrix could get there hands on the series that started with MS it last showed up as Squad Assault I believe. I can't remember the name of the series and i'm too lazy to dig through my piles. Of course I'm also having a blast with XIII century and it's been panned by everyone for not having a campaign and some other things.

Good points about the overly large maps and useless infantry in CM. They're done much better in PCK. [8D]
