AFV Targeting

I've been wondering about this for awhile, but just now saw something that made me need to ask...
Q: When you manually target for an AFV which has both a Main Gun and MGs, do you need to target for both weapons? How does it work to target for only one, or both weapons?
The reason I ask is because when I manually target I normally target both the gun and the mgs. However, after doing this on two tanks, I noticed their main guns weren't firing (at least no animation for it); only their MGs. I usually target the gun first, then the MGs, so I wondered if doing the MGs last cancelled out the main gun target order.
So I went back and targeted only the main gun, and the gun firing animation was back, but I couldn't tell if the MGs were firing then. I wondered if "the last targeted weapon" took precendence over which weapon fired.
So, not only am I unsure about whether both weapons are firing when both are targeted manually, I also wonder if we need a "Fire All" target selection to insure we're getting both, and to save time having to manually target twice for each tank.

It will only fire one or the other, not both at the same time.

It's normally one or the other, unless you target something with HE that's also in MG range, in which case both will fire.

Erik,
One feature about PcK that I want to add to wish list regarding manual targeting ...
When you use the HQ to basically target an enemy tank (TARGET button only, no ammo selected), it defaults to HE [:@]. I think happens when you initially set a rugalr unit to target as well.
Any chance you can have this default to the cheapest AP type round available? ie APHE ... based on target selection. Use default HE for area fire and soft targets.
I think it would speed up play a bit. I like to use the HOTKEY " T " alot [:)].
Thanks,
Rob

Huh. In fact, that's how it's already supposed to work - if you Target without choosing ammo type it should choose the most appropriate ammo type (which for tanks would definitely not be HE). I'll re-check this, sounds like we broke something if it's no longer doing that.

Ok, thanks ... I'm running v1.0 not your beta ... jsut in case you fixed this in 1.01d [:)].

Sooo... By targeting the HE and then the MGs, I was cancelling out the HE. I guess this means that you can't have your main gun target one enemy while your MG (assuming bow MG, not coaxial) targets another?

I'm pretty sure you can only have one target. As Erik said, though, if you target w/ HE it will evidentally try to use the MGs too. I didn't know that. [X(]

With only one target possible (or one gun targetable), how would that affect the modelling of the multi-turreted Soviet "land battleship" tanks? I'm not thinking it's possible, but I just don't know how the system works well enough even to guess.

The game doesn't handle multi gunned AFVs. Mobius and I tried Char B1 bis and the game didn't like all the choices of guns and ammo.
