Modding a custom unit

Is there a way to make a scenario a unit that is spefic to a single custom screnario. Without adding it to the Data directory I mean -
I'd like to modify the Pioneer unit, but I don't want to create a new one in the Data directory and clutter it up.
If I cant- that fine - just thought I'd ask.
Thanks,
Rick

Sorry, no.
The best you could do is to make it a JSGM mod

As long as you create it as a new unit, I don't see the issue though - shouldn't bother anyone.

At this point you have to clutter up the data dictionary.
I made a mod of the 75mm Pak 41. That thing was at its peak for only about 2-3 months when it was supplied with tungsten APCN (ok we use the APCR table.) For that brief period it was a world beater. But they took the tungsten away and gave it steel core shot. Then it was about as good as a Pak 38. So there will be a Pak 41 for the tungsten period and maybe one for the steel core period. Right now there is no way to evolve technology or a unit's weapons.
