My worthy opponent, SASO, has been regaling you all with the glories of Japanese arms for some time now in his AAR. Since he's mixed in some of his plans, I have kept out of the AAR. But it has come to my attention that in the true fashion of militarist dictatorships everywhere some inconvenient facts have been "de-emphasized".

Naturally, this being a RISING SUN Scenario, the overall situation for the Allies is hopeless. But the forces of goodness and light, mom, apple pie and the girl next door, and all things bright and beautiful have had a number of good goes at the Imperial Enemy.

The first 10 days of February saw the Japanese roll forward in the eastern DEI. Makassar, Kendari, Maumere, Raba, Noemfoor, Biak all fell to the Japanese. Singapore, cut off and bombed incessantly for nearly a month, fell. Meanwhile the US-Philippino Army in Manila continues to defy the Japanese and inflict significant losses on the 6 reinforced divisions (48th, 4th, 2nd, 38th, 16th, and 21st) besieging it.

The IJN continues to take significant losses. 13 destroyers have been confirmed sunk. Fleet Air Arm Swordfish sank two off Kendari while other aircraft roughed up the invasion force.

The Japanese juggernaut rolls on: well actually it's been mostly small detachments of paratroops scarfing up undefended minor bases. Enemy ship began signaling “JKZ” repeatedly by blinker light. Signalman Calderon replied with random letters with ship’s blinker. Increased speed to Ahead Flank. 2034 – Enemy ship altered course towards Legaspi and illuminated with starshell. 2035 – Enemy ship commenced fire. Salvo landed 300 yds ahead. Commenced evasive steering. Second salvo landed 100 yards to port and slightly astern. Third salvo 50 yds off starboard bow. Fourth salvo struck the water 10 yds to port amidships. Sustained minor splinter damage. 2037 Enemy vessel straddled by salvo from Corregidor fort, distant 18000 yds. 2038 Enemy vessel shears off but is then struck by several shells from Corregidor fort. 2044 Lost sight of enemy vessel in cloud of smoke approximately 12000 yards astern. 2130 – Set the special sea detail. Came to course 170 M to enter Caylabne Bay. Commenced rigging port anchor and 3 shots chain to wire hawser on fantail capstan. 2210 – Reversed course 100 yards off the bar of the Maragondon River. 2212 - Let go the port anchor. 2218 – Aground in 12 ft of water on the bar at the mouth of the Maragondon River 60 yds from the Western bank, Caylabne Bay, Cavite Province, Philippine Islands. Let go the starboard anchor. 2220 – Small craft alongside to starboard. Brigadier General Matthews aboard. 2225 – Commenced unloading cargo to small craft alongside to port and starboard. The KB is South of Java now. For the past couple of days my aviators (dare I say airheads) have been committing suicide by flying. A hundred Sallys have been pulverizing Batavia for 5 days. 50 Nells have kept Soerabaya all smashed up.

A big landing at Malang so far has gained relatively little ground. Another assault force is offshore probably headed for Tjilatjap guarded by at least two divisions of the KB.

But still I manage the occasional sting.
