This is an AAR to show of my scenario. The german invasion of Norway. We are using a version with basicly the full OOP.

First turn - The invasion

I am playing Norway and here we can see the first turn. The germans have landed in force around Oslo, Kristiansand, Stavanger, Egersund, Bergen, Trondheim and Narwik. No first turn cities conquered though. Allied losses include 19 inf and 3 surface wessels (the norweigan navy).

During my turn i pretty much played it passivly. Did get one major break when st norwegian dragoon battalion killed of an entire battalion of German paratroopers, although with some losses on its own path. Also some artillery fire killed of some germans.

Grymme, I reckon in the scenario editor you need to set up production for the norwegian cities. So that the circle under the cities is Green not black.

Turn 2
 
- When i opened t2 it turned out that the germans have captured Oslo, Kristiansand, Trondheim, Narvik, Stavanger and Forneblu airport. No surprises really. Losses amount somewhere around 100 INF.
- Not surprisingly my polish sub in the Kattegatt (Orzel) had been sunk.
- No attack had been made against Egersund so i still have an strong INF battalion there that will be a tough nut for the germans to crack.

Important events
- The germans transferred one Luftgeshwader to Forneblu airport which is right in the frontline. The airport was only defended by the panzer detachment. I didnt really feel i could attack on the ground, what i could do however is hammer then airfield with my mountain artillery battalion. The attack resulted in 2 divebombers killed. A victory for Norway.
- On the northernmost fron the german parts of the 3d Mountain division have landed occupying Narvik. To defend the Swedish iron ore hex i positioned an INF battalion in the mountainpass directly in front of it. Also 5&6th division HQ and an engineer company was rushed to bolster the defence (you have to use what u have).
- I have strategically transferred the two kirkenes INF battalions and the fortress battalion from the border of Finland to the outskirts of Narvik.
- Also i landed the entire initial brittish expeditionary corps (Sickleforce i think) to the north of Narvik. It consists of a HQ, 2 INF battalions (KYOLI and royal marines) and the french legion Chaisseurs alpins. Although these forces dont pack much of an offensive punch they will most certainly be a tough nut for the germans to crack.
- Air bombardments from the brittish carrier airforce caused a trickle of killings (1 or 2 INF in Narvik). In Trondheim air bombardments from Norweigan air force and Norweigan marine air cause 1 or 2 more INF causualties (you take what you can.
- The brittish navy around Narvik unsuccesfullyn searched for the german destroyers rumoured to be there.
 
 
My plans
 
- My plan in the north is basicly to defend the Swedish iron ore hex. Hope the germans attack and lose and wither their strenght away wíth artillery fire and air attacks from the british carrier air force.
- In the south i dont know if i can say that i have much of a plan. If possible i will at least defend the northweast and try to slow down the german advance that will come from Trondheim.
- Also i have a second brittish expeditionary corps that contain the only AT unit on my side KOYOLI PV-company. If possible it should be positioned as quickly as possible to strike at the german panzers.
 
 
 

Well.

I thought this game was dead. But it seems not. So here is

turn 3


- Basicly my defence in southern norway is shattered. I have a couple of battalions left, but since they are cut of from Trondheim they are goners.
- Around Narvik i managede to strenghten the defence of the Narvik Ore hex. It will be interesting to see if they manage to capture it. Historicly they didnt.
- Mauriceforce is landed around Narvik. Sickleforce is loaded on to transports and will hopefully be able to land north of Trondheim in 2-3 turns. This force also contains the only sizable AT unit in the game (The KOYOLI PV company). My hope is to bring this unit in force against the german armour unit.
- The german armour is out in force and occupying the front by Forneblu. Had to evacuate the norweigan airforce.
- Have decided not to use british groundbombardment (I think it probably is to powerfull and needs to be fixed in the scenario editor).

[as a side note i am totally pounding the germans in my other game, so at least it seems that the scenario can go in either direction]

Turn 4

The germans went on offensive during their turn but lost 2 aircraft and 1 armour. Inf losses were around 30 for me and 20 for the germans.
 
- My turn. The germans havent tried to attack Narvik Iron ore. So it will probably hold. Bombarded germans with artillery and tried probing with the Alpins Chausseurs (german bat had 14 in readines) but the assault broke under heavy losses (40-50 % losses). 
- Evacuated most of southern Norway to north of Hamar. Will try a breakout towards Trondheim. Had to leave some of the artillery behind though.
- The front north of Trondheim seems to be holding with 2 battered inf batallions.
- Found the german wolfpack lurking around and hunted it down. Didnt finish it though, they had 2 subs left.
 
 

Turn 5
 
- Not much happened. Lost Kristiansand, Egersund and Oscarsborgs fortress so the entire south is in German hands
- In Narvik i bombarded the germans who lost 4 INF. They kept passive and on the defensive.
- I have gathered the remains of the norweigan in southern Norway north of Hamar. Its 3-4 battalions at 1-15 % strenght the remains of 2 HQ units, some flak and artillery evaquated and some engineers. They will form a convoy of death that will try to break out to the north towards trondheim. they are shadowed by the German armour.
- The germans abandoned the fortress on the entrance of the foyrd in Trondheim. I retook i.
 

Turn 6

Screenshot shows situation around Narvik at the end of T6.

- Bombarded germans in Narvik and beat them back out of the Mountains with losses of around 10 INF each. A couple of more turns and Narvik might be liberated.
- The german forces coming from Oslo will most likely unite with the forces in Trondheim next turn.
- My defenses north of Trondheim were more or less annihilated by german attacks 1 INF left.
- Next turn the second british expedition force will hopefully be able to land north of Trondheim.
- My convoy of death lives on and is heading north. Doesnt have much hope of it surviving though. The germans are screening it without attacking it.
- Killed of 2 remaining subs.
- In the trondheim fyord the royal and german navies clash with major losses for the germans.
- Unsúccessfull allied airraids against german forces advancing north from Trondheim.

Germans need 5 more victory hexes to win (and keep Narvik). It means, i think, that they need to get halfway towards Narvik and capture Rana Airfield.

Turn 7
 
- In Narvik the allies beat back the germans and are now facing the outskirts of the city where a rabble of staff, mortars, flak and engineers are making a last stand. The germans seem to have combined their mortars and inf guns into a "super unit". But they havent used it, which i think have been a big mistake.
- In south the germans are advancing past Trondheim. there are more or less nothing left of norweigan defences. Losses around 70 INF with 30 INF german losses.
