Overlay Grid Pattern - Entire Map

Ok ... This is a screenshot of the Level 1 map (Return Road to Kharkov scenario) with RM's cross-grid pattern across the entire terrain map ... no gaps or funny misalignments.

Yeah ... it's big, rough and blue ... but just a demonstration, don't ya know [;)].
Also, it takes some artistic work to make it look pleasing on parts of the map (look at road area, see how it looks aweful around the blue with the extra white sides).

The Grid can be any size ... The SceneXML defines this. In the SS, it's roughly 17m square / 25m diagonal.

I can write up a tutorial if anyone cares ... however, Stridor's tut #3 will probably contain the instructions on how to do it. I'm not much a of tech writer and I don't know if there's an easier process and maybe all the requirements to get it done right and cpu friendly.

Hmmmm ... here's an SS using the grid as a DDS (the original was a PNG).

You can see it looks much better ... plus it has the added bonus' --- > detailed up close ... fades better ... and shows as dots farther away.

I like the DDS better.

Ok ... Here's a sample JSGE zip mod Grid for the Level 1 map ... The map RocketMan is using in his AAR (Return Road to Kharkov scenario).

FILE CHANGES : Level1Scene.XML

NEW FILES : media.xml and grid.dds

Credits : z1812's gridded grass / RocketMan's Cross Grid mod's

Grid Size : ~ 17x17 meters / 25 meters Diagonal

JSGE Ready - Unzip to MODS folder and activate.

That looks great Mraah! Thanks for the hard work.

Thanks ... It's just an idea right now. If you or anyone wants to expand on the idea and make it better (it needs work) than by all means. There may even be a better idea using the DDS textures for the snow but it all involves writing new entries in the XML (explained in your field thread) ... if anyone wants to dig that deep.

I'm thinking again, that Stridor will go into detail about the XML entries in his tut's that would explain adding overlays, such as grids, with the minimum of work.
