Quick question on the affects of vehicle attributes for Halftracks.

Is it the halftrack attribute or the opentop attribute that gives the cover to Mounted Infantry?

Interesting.... looks like the open top attribute also stops you from buttoning up... which makes sense.

Trying to figure this out for future mod'n of a What If scenario... trying to figure out if you can create an APC with the current game.

Good question. It probably comes from the "Halftrack" as the Marder also is "Open top" and it doesn't carry passengers on the inside.
If you are trying to mod a closed top APC you might try changing the xml by omitting one or the other of those attributes and seeing what mounted troops do.

Already did that.

Problem is that theres really no way to tell without asking... the "cover" given by halftracks is a shift in the odds of getting hit, not total cover... so infantry is still getting killed while riding, just at a lesser rate. With all the variables inherent in the hit/kill system, its difficult to pin down a situation where you can proove it either way.

It seemes like the "halftrack" attribute itself gives the cover, but because it then creates a situation where you can't unbutton, it makes the vehicles view and spotting really limited...

Either way, Infantry continues to fire from the back... even with just the halftrack attribute on, but not open top (interesting), and their feild of view does not seem limited by either setting.
