I will be purchasing a new computer within the next few weeks. I want to make sure what I get is completely compatible with Maximum football.
Processor AMD Phenom 9600
Ram 3gb
Video card ATI Radeon HD 2400xt
HD Dual 500GB drives 1TB
OS Vista probably 64 will try to get 32 though SP1
please let me know if any of this is not a good fit.
Thanks
Sean

I'd consider going trying to get XP instead of Vista (if that's possible), and not just for Max-FB purposes.

That looks like the same computer I have. What other games do you play? If you only play Maximum Football then I might get XP, but if sometimes you play other games like a FSX or other game with high requirments get the Vista.

Actually Max football is probably the highest end game I play. If the Computer comes with Vista, can I downgrade to xp by buying XP or do I have to stick with vista once it is on the computer? Thanks all for the help.

I still would stick with Vista, but JD Haltracks Editor might not work. He is making a Vista compatible one, but at the same time he is also helping out the the FF NFL 2009 mod. I prefer Vista to XP, but some stuff in Vista does drive me crazy.

I guess then the question I now have is does the game run well with Vista or are there problems. All these statements kind of worry me. I need to buy a new computer since this one is six years old with a 250w power supply and I would rather purchase new than try upgrading this one.

Don't try to upgrade your old computer. It is way to old to try. Maximum Football has run better on Vista than XP for me, but my Vista is a gaming computer and my XP wasn't. If you get a Dual Core, 2GB, and a farly decent graphics card you will be fine.

Well then which is better Vista 32 or Vista 64. I have heard with 32 it's mostly like XP with 64many games and programs don't work yet. Also the Processor is a AMD Phenom 9600 Quad. I will have 3gb to start for Ram. It is going to be a Gateway GM 5664.

[8D] Well I use Vista 64bit. If you use Vista 32bit and you have more than 2 GB of RAM installed your computer will not be able to take advantage or make use of the extra memory. Now with the release of SP1 it will recognize and report the correct amount of RAM in system properties but like I said you will not be able to take advantage of having say 4 GB of RAM.If you are not going to get more than 2 GB of RAM I would say 32bit will be good enough for you.Now with 64bit you may run into problems when trying to run certain software.I was able to find the drivers and updates that I needed and I have not had any issues with my gaming rig and I run Vista 64bit.But I have 3 laptops and acces to a 4th as well as a desktop one system runs XP and the other 3 run Vista 32bit so when I have issues running certain programs I use one of my other systems.

Hi.
I'd recommend XPSP2 if possible. I support the game on 32bit Vista as much as I can, but it has some extra challenges (thanks to its UAC and need to install and run things as an administrator). There's a Vista installation guide for the game on my website (
www.maximum-football.com). So far any reported installation or problems getting the game to run have been narrowed down to the user not being an adminstrator or the UAC is turned off (or both).
I've never tested the game on 64bit Vista, but I'm told it works (there are a couple members here that run the game on 64bit and they don't seem to have trouble with it).
Running the game on Vista does require more system resources than XP so you need a better system to start with than you would if it were XP based.
If it means anything, I've had reports that the game works well on Apple Macs running Windows XP via bootcamp too.
thanks
David

Thanks david. it seems all new computers I find seem to be preloaded with Vista. I am not an expert on computers so I am buying a packaged deal from a store. I am getting a great deal on an AMD phenom 9600 with 3gb ram and 1TB HD. too good to pass up. It is loaded with Vista not sure if it's 64 or 32 bit. Can Vista be down graded to XP or once it is loaded is that the only choice?

One more thing to add, most companies will not offer xp with their new computers, and if the do it's about $200 more than with Vista.
