It would be nice if someone, for scenario purpuses, could make a world map. There is the waw, but it doesnt depict africa, south africa, asia and so on.
Just putting it out there if someone feels the urge.
It could always be a joint project.

Well, a world map is badly needed. What is the scale ayou suggest? I suggest one hex/degree. I would result in a 360x180 hex map

I was actually thinking of this myself. I guess it would be possible to model the key land masses (Europe, North Africa and parts of the Pac) at one hex/degree, and then do the huge areas of Russia and China, as well as North and South America and southern Africa in a bigger scale. Finally, the Pacific and Atlantic oceans could have an even bigger scale. I guess the map making would become trickier, but it would provide detailed scale where needed without creating something which could not easily be controlled, and the result would most likely be a really interesting WWII scenario on a global level.

Is there a way to share maps apart from as scenario files? Is there a stock of AT maps for creating scenarios? If not, shouldn't we set one up on the community site?

I'm guessing the map can be saved as a scenario containing just the map. For a new scenario, simply start with a copy of the map. I guess certain maps will need a master file to go with them, alternatively, make a terrain master file with lot's of terrain in it. Not sure how such a file would work with different scales of maps?

What would be the consequences of such a map?

Have you guys checked out Tom Weber's map for World at War scenario? It's about 200 x 70, with special "big land" and "big sea" terrain, which allows you to model the cost of moving across large amounts of land without ruining the scale of denser areas like Europe. I think it's one of the best world maps I've seen in any game for playing a full world war II scenario.

Yes, that was the one I was thinking about. I guess it can be used as a basis for further development should anyone feel like adding to an already good map?

Grymme, if you need help setting up a "project" let me know. I have a Mantis issue tracker on a server of mine, and I'm also using Sourceforge where files can be checked in and out and allow multiple developers to work on them. Not exactly sure how something like this would work there, but we can always find out if you're interested. Let me know.....

Downloaded the file but it fails to open because it's looking for "Boardgame.ptmaster" file that's not included...

You can find the boardgame mod on the scenario bank also.
I should say that the map is a work in progress. Basicly i uploaded it so that it shouldnt be a waste of time if someone wanted to build on it and finish it.

You can also switch it to another master file (realmod or stock) if you prefer other graphics.
