Russian supply in WaW

Am I the only one who has problems building enough supplies for the Red Army? Omsk, Stalingrad - and worst of all, the new factories that spring up in the Urals - produce no supplies. It's tough enough for the Soviets to stop the Germans. Having flexibility in building supplies would really help.

Then again, it might have something to do with the 50+ Fighter II's that you have based at Moscow in that game...[;)]

Each fighter is sucking down the supplies that could feed 80 Rifle/SMG, plus factor in the supply costs for the upgrades, and you'll see that you're spending, and have spent an extraordinarily large amount of supplies to keep them in readiness.

That said, I agree that the factories should be able to produce supplies. I had them set in earlier mods to be able to produce everything a city could, but at some point in the evolution of the scenario, Tom scaled them back to only produce Art/Planes/Vehicles, and made Resources a non-buildable LocType. Also, Stalingrad should not be a "Special City" as it isn't tied into having the Siberians as the people for it. It should be made back into a regular city. Finally, IMO, Omsk and Munich should be able to produce anything that a regular land-locked city should be able to produce.

Oh...and have you ever calculated how many supplies your Royal Navy stack of 16 Battleships, 16 Cruisers, and sundry Destroyers and Carriers is costing you?[X(]

If it was 50+ Katyushas or 50+ tanks, the problem would be the same. One fighter = 40 infantry or 8 mortar, which might be munched by the Luftwaffe if I didn't build the fighters. Not to mention that the Soviets are losing troops and supply cities turn by turn, while the Germans are flush with supplies from Spain...and Turkey...and Kuwait...

I don't see how the Soviets can supply the type of armor/artillery armada they had historically. If the scenario is designed to force the Soviets to build an infantry army, you might want to indicate this in the scenario briefing. The problem is, for Russia to have a chance, I would think they would need to be strong in some area. If it's not aircraft or artillery (another supply muncher), then maybe it's hordes of infantry/mortar/MG stacks. But wouldn't they be munched by the Luftwaffe and the German artillery?

As for the huge Royal Navy, you neglected to mention that Germany took Spain and Gibralter without breaking a sweat. For all I know, you could have been building ships for Sealion. Given the new shipbuilding rules, I couldn't wait to see the a big Italo-German navy appear while I wait 10 turns for my BB/CV hulls to be built.

I'm not saying that my strategy was optimum. I'm just pointing out that WaW gives the Germans a lot more flexibility than the Allies.

I´m not 100% sure, but i think the planes have in WaW a overproportional supply consumption.
Can remember my initial british air unit (5 fighters and 5 levelbombers) needed more than 1000 supply per turn in winter.
In my game (i had not too many planes and a "normal" frontline mostly with infantry + some katyuscha´s) i had problems myself to produce enough supply in the end i´ve set most factories to produce supply. 19.000 overall.
And yes, it is annoying that many factories can´t produce supply especially the evacuated ones. Same for infantry !!

In my actual situation i need tons of infantry, but after loosing a couple of cities (able to produce infantry) all i got has
been the Ural factories producing only heavy equipment.

Off course the USA can help Russia yet and they do it.
