Minefields

Hi, more hooked in the game as the time goes by[:'(]
I've searched the forum but without result, about the minefields dimension and how, or if, the units ability affect the chance to spot them.
Willing to flank a spotted minefields how large I must assume its front? Yes I know that another field could be layed on both flanks, but I'm asking what is the minimum size and then..... good luck.
Second is my tought correct that a Pioneer squad could spot minefield better than an infantry, and that both are better then veichles? And between veichles better armored scout cars than tanks? But how works the variable like experience, speed, medals?
TIA

Yes I was hooked from the start though.
As far as minefields, I have no idea.

Greg

The minefields currently in the game are assumed to be of the deliberate rather than hasty type, so they are not spotted until triggered. The side that "owns" the minefield can always see it. Once triggered, a marker is placed that the enemy can see too. There is no maximum or minimum size to a minefield, it's defined by the scenario designer based on map coordinates and he can overlay multiple minefield shapes and types and densities if he wants. Within the random battles, the generation logic will choose from a variety of possible minefield locations based on the other scenario parameters if minefields are allowed.

When it comes to hasty minefields, these types of things would be considered as far as spotting before detonation.
As it is right now, there are considerations for whether a mine is triggered or not, but these are largely based on a combination of minefield density and unit movement orders/speed. So a unit with Defend -> Move orders (the slowest) is less likely to trigger a mine than a unit Rushing through.

Erik,
Question ... I haven't had much time playing and I was wondering ...
If the minefield is triggered and it's marked and you really need to cross the minefield to get to the other side, would your odds at triggering another mine be reduced (considering defend->move) since you know they're around? Basically, if the first trigger didn't kill your squad can they make their way out of the minefield with better odds?
Thanks,
Rob

No, only because they don't know the shape and extent of the minefield. They'll avoid the known mine though and as a player you can halt them in Reaction or switch them to Defend -> Move if you think the minefield could be large and that they're still in the middle of it.
