Just started playingthis game. I am a newbie and would like to play against someone to play the Japanese. I want to play a stock game with just very basic house rules. I just want to play with the manual as the rules. Please reply if you want to play a straight forward game and no mods. It does not have to be a historically accurate campaign. Be willing to be free willing. Please reply if you would like to start a PBEM game as Japan.

Sorry only play the stock game, It was my understanding that Stock is the unmodded version of the game.

You have it right: so unmodded the map is hopeless - and there are lots of other problems which cause many to be unwilling to play it - either ever (like myself) or not since there are mods addressing these matters. It does have the advantage of simplicity - there are many fewer units than in most mods - and many fewer locations on the map (if you can handle fictional rail lines down the rugged coast or British Columbia and Alaska, and so on).

Where would I get the most up to date virsion of CHS, and if i install this MOD will i still be able to play the stock game as I Have an ongoing PBEM game.
