Hi,

I bought the Maximum Football yesterday, and I have these issues when I have to kick or punt (see attachment please) : black screen, F9 to retry, until the ESC screen, and then no choice, I have to quit the game.
My system has a fresh windows XP SP3 install, and the game is patched with 2270.

Have you got any suggestion ?

I tried the game on another computer, Windows XP SP2, and same error. Perhaps did I something wrong ...

Obviously, there hasn't been much testing on a Windows XP SP3 machine, but that doesn't look to be the problem here.

Which patches did you install?

One needs to install the game from the 2.0 disc, install the Comprehensive 2.2 patch, and then install the 2.2.70 patch.

2008 APR 9 - Maximum-Football 2.0 2.2.70 patch (162MB)

This is the comprehensive version 2.2 update for Maximum Football 2.0.

Hello Marauders,

I directly used the patch MaximumFootball-UpdateRelease-v227Comp.exe (downloaded on the Matrixgames site) after the disc installation..
But even the no patched game return the message.

I try immediatly to install the 2.2 before the 2.2.7.0.

Same message with the V2, the 2.2 and the 2.2.7.0 versions !

I didn't mention that I'm french and obviously my windows is in french. Can it be a problem ?
Even if I suppose that the Maximum Football community is not only US language restricted !

Welcome to MaxFB KempeR. I have this problem when a team doesn't have a valid playbook. Are you using a custom league or one of the default leagues? If you are using a custom league try using the default playbook with all your teams and see what happens.

I noticed in that screen shot that the text is French. As the game isn't localized, that's the potential problem.

Do you get a regional settings warning when you start the game? Even if you don't, I would suggest changing your system regional settings to North American (Canada or US) and trying again.

If you can tell me what regional settings you're using I'll see if I can reproduce the problem and confirm it's the system setup.

You might also want to check to ensure that there is a file called wvsmath.dll in your Windows\System32 folder. If it's not there you need to reinstall the game and ensure you install all the components (ensure both check marks on the last page of the wizard are checked).

Therhino, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I have these issues in quick play, in custom and default leagues.

David, I have no warning about the regional settings. My usuals settings are French with the dot as decimal symbol.

As you recommand, I switched to North American, and the game runs perfectly. I can now discover all the potential of MF.

I also have to switch between UK english & US english
its no hardship, unless you forget you switched and emailing someone..........hahahaha.......I do that all the time

I think there is one other, but I forgot who. Glad you got your game up and running. Sorry I couldn't really help with your problem, but I was guessing on what it said. I don't know french to well lol.

But as far as I'm aware
until now there has only been me and now theres you.............grand total of 2 europeans

At least if there are any others we dont see them very often if at all

But dont worry brother.........there are a good few french speaking canadians here
