In just a few minutes we will begin our advance east against the Germans once again here in Egypt. I assume we are expendable so once again the British have sent us out to battle against the mighty German army. I really dont think that the British high command wants to give us our due that we are a formidable force to be reconed with. We will begin to move out at 5 minutes after the hour after our artty has dropped some shells in on the suspected German emplacements.

It has begun to kool down some from the terrible heat of the day. There is a bad sandstorm going on as i type this. It has cut our visability down to 250 yards. Plus our movement rate will be almost nil so there will be no hurry here today. It will take for ever just to move 300 yards in this storm.

CO C has set up in the north on our left flank. They only have 50 yards to reach there objectives. They are to advance and capture them then to set up a defensive line and hold. There is a small ridge line about 100 yards in front of them to the east. This is where we expect the germans to come over hopefully they will be set up and can pick them off against the horizen.

CO B will man the middle and push towards the rear after they have secured the middle objectives. They have a low ridge of hills 100 yards to there front and another 150 yards to the objectives after crossing these hills.

Co A has already taken and are holding the very southern objectives near the map edge. They are to cross a low line of hills 150 yards east of there position and secure the east side of this hill. Then set up defensive postions and stop any germans from trying to take back the objectives.

I hear our artty begining to pound the suspected positions of the enemy. So I must get out and get the men on the move this battle has begun. Once again we must fight well for the glory of France. We must prove to the world that we are to be recconed with and we are here to stay. VIVA LA France!!!!!

50 minutes of hell so far the Germans are throwing a load of tnks at us. We are losing a lot of men and way too many of our tanks have been blown apart. The three platoons of tanks in the very far south our right flank have been shot to pieces. The german armor is bull dogging its way into our lines. They have been cut down from three plattoons to lesss then two. At least eight of there tanks have been turned into junk but the relentless fire of the heavier german armor.

The ermans in the middle are into our lines and the B co is having a tough time trying to stop them from rolling our center back. C Co in the north has finally managed to push the germans back some what. The tanks on there far left flank in the north have begunt o turn somewhat SE and trying to move in on the Germans right flank rear. Trying to push down towards the center and help relieive some of the pressure on them.

We are hanging in there and giving it all we have. Its just we need heavier guns on our tanks to take out the superior armor the germans have.

The battle is over we have captured all the objectives assigned to us today. We really put some hurt on the Germans today. They lost 2000 men plus 38 artty which included a mess of the 81mm morters. While moving to the rear we ran on to a morter park and took out at least 15 morters in less then ten minutes. We also blew apart 12 of there soft vehicles along with a slew of there armor 123 to be exact. There was so many ripped and torn apart tanks laying around on the batle field it was hard to make our way to the rear.

The really tough thing about the battle was not really the Germans but the dam roaring sandstom that raged all day. It slowed movement down to a crawl. We were lucky to make more then 50 yards every 5 minutes. Even our tanks had trouble making 100 yards in the same amount of time.

We lost a heck of a lot of our men today we had 432 good men go down along with 1 artty and 43 of our tanks. Not too bad in light of what we did to the Germans but way more then I care to lose in a single battle.

I intend to get a letter off to De Gaule tonight and tell him that if we are to continue to punish the Germans then we have to do something about our tanks. They just are not good enough to go up against the heavier German armor. If not our losses may continue to mount higher and higher each time we meet them.

All and all our men once again performed above the call of duty and under very tough conditions. Even tho most of the legioneers have been in these conditions before it still was a extreme effort by all our men and they should be commended very highly for todays efforts.
