Just a point
been reading various AARs -and there is one in particular where"exciting stuff" is about to happen
I read one sides AAR, then go to the other sides

be careful guys!! -There is far too much intelligence being leaked "in the form of advice" in some comments!![:-][:-][:-][:@]

Player A -Im going to do this---- and then half a dozen replies flow in "be careful - player B could do that!!! - and "That" is exactly what he is planning to do!!![8|]

Could not help but think -Gawd - player A must get antenna tingling with so many warnings -look out -player B must be up to something![X(]

This is not a shot at ANYONE -just a reminder how unique dual AARs are -and how careful we must be with them!!!

Agreed.. personally I read both sides to several AARs, but I don't allow myself to post, because god knows what would come out of my mouth.

Yea, you would think the players are being on their honor.
I work for a great Company and they have cameras everywhere.
Sometimes they watch.
You can watch me all you want, it's boring to see a guy actually doing the right thing for a change.
We are all presumed innocent until proven guilty.
How many of you can say that you never "cheated" in some form, even if the small of all small "cheats".

I would be inclined to agree. Quite a bit of intel is being freely swapped about.

1275psi, good point. I've scaled back my comments to be more on the level of "how to get the game to do what you want" as opposed to "grand strategic advice" because of the sudden influx of absolutely accurate soothsaying going on. It is concerning.

Glad this thread was started, I've seen what you are talking about ... but refrained from making comment about this as I didn't want to tip the boat. But it is pertinent and something readers should be aware and more careful with ...

I agree, but if necessary I would use this to spread disinformation. Instead of Wake invasion I might call it my Rebaul invasion. In any case if you do an AAR accept that it can be used against you. It can be used against your opponent though if he/she should be so unsporting. Just my 2 cents[:)]

Thanks for starting this thread, I think most people know what is proper etiquette , but it is never a bad idea to remind us all. I too refrain from posting on any AAR where both sides have one going other than the "love the AAR, keep up the good work" kind of post. It is sad to think that two players may have the integrity to stay out of each other's AAR's but are being fed info by interlopers. Quite frankly, there is one AAR that has gotten out of hand which I will not name. Most AAR's have good comments and occasional bits of advice. There is one now where one side seems to now be fighting half the posters on this board.

The AAR's on this forum are both highly entertaining and instructive. I would hate to see them curtailed because we don't trust one another. That said, even a relative noob like me didn't bring up my Wake Island raid in my AAR until it was concluded. Paranoia can be a good thing sometimes. If it weren't for the enormous pain of keeping track of things, I would run my AAR like some people do which is to have it trail the actual game date by a month or more.

This forum runs on the honor system and if that fails, it will fall apart

Well, I don't think there's anything wrong with any number of people offering advice to a player ( I;d offer advice to anyone IF they were open to receiving it and it seemed like it might help them ) but it is one thing to offer advice about errors a player might be making and another to spill the other guy's plans. There IS a difference.

Problem lies in humanity itself. We can't really help "taking sides" to some degree for any number of reasons we may not even realize. And when provided with information from both sides, inevitably we are "tempted" to "help" one or the other---knowingly or not. Best is to stop reading the "other" AAR at least 3 turns before you begin to offer "advice" to someone. Helps keep you honest in spite of yourself.

This is a good reminder note, we all have to be careful. I don't think anyone in this community would INTENTIONALLY leak advice, (pox on you if you are!), and I don't think most players would accept such advice. But we have to be aware of the subliminal slip.

I've seen a few whose post's would raise an eyebrow, I've seen also a few AAR's where certain players have an amazing ability to predict their opponent's movements. Luckily those person's aren't very active anymore.

In the end, nothing can be proven.. aside from spotting your opponent reading your AAR, where I know about atleast two persons who got caught.

Well for the record I'll confine myself to the Jap side of the AAR I think we're all talking about so that it is obvious it is all above board. It always has been ( at least for me ) but appearances are sometimes important also.

I think it should be quite obvious: If you read the other AAR, don't post any advices. Even if you are really trying not to tell any secrets, your advices won't be the same they were if you didn't read the other AAR - because it is impossible to think about a situation without using all known information. E.g. you will never forget that XY might be a trap and propose an attack there, if you just read that the other guy set it up as a trap. You just can not know if you had "a bad feeeling here" if you didn't have the knowledge.

Bogo, that supposes that the advice you are giving is about strategy etc. It might well just be about tactical/operational matters. Sheesh [8|] [8|] [8|]
