Description:
This modification allows infantry to move and shoot through walls like they could in Close Combat 3. It modifies the elements.txt file from CCMT, and uses replacement values from Close Combat 3 for walls.
I have played Close Combat 3 for a few years, quite enjoying the multiplayer aspect. I boguht CCMT to have a similar experience, but updated with modern equipment. The difficulties in urban combat surprised me, because my troops could not move or shoot through walls, but were also not smart enough to reliably seek openings from which to shoot or move through. This edited file re-enables that ability. While it is clearly unrealistic behavior in a literal sense, I believe that soldiers would be able to find or make openings in urban combat. This mod gives them that ability. Enjoy!
Files in Archive:
Elements.txt - Original, unedited version of elements.txt from CCMT
Elementsmodified.txt - Modified elements.txt allowing soldiers to move and shoot through walls
ElementsLabels.txt - Labels added to columns so editors can see which columns control what. Best guesses based on Close Combat 3 Elements.txt file.
ElementsLabelsModified.txt - The above wall changes, with labels. As far as I know, you must remove these labels before you load the file into CCMT, but they are useful for editing purposes.
Installation:
Your copy of Modern Tactics must be patched to version "2007.12.7.1"
1) BACK UP the elements.txt file in your "Close Combat - Modern Tactics\DATA\BASE" folder
2) Copy "elementsmodified.txt" from this archive into "Close Combat - Modern Tactics\DATA\BASE"
3) Rename "elementsmodified.txt" to "elements.txt"
ChangeLog:
06-04-2008
-SoldierMoveRates were increased from '0' to the values from close combat III for all types with typeflag 'wall':
Prone: 40; Crouch: 35; Standing: 30 (These values affect movement)
-BlockHeight All was changed from 1, to 0 for all types with typeflag 'wall'. (Likely affects shooting)
Included Files:
Commented versions of the elements file, with labels guessed at by comparing with the CC3 elements file, were included so further edits can be made.
Happy editing and playing.
Thanks to:
-'Senior Drill' on the Matrix forums for saying that these factors were controlled by elements.txt
-CC3 developers for commenting their elements.txt file
-Strategy 3 Tactics and Matrix Games for an awesome new version of CC!
