Let's break the ice!

Somebody has to be first, so here it is...a challenge. Who wants to play a PBEM game, starting in '61? Historical Leaders, Fog of War on. Other game options set to default. I'll take either side. Don't be afraid. I'm as noob as you. Unless you're a beta-tester, in which case, I'm noober...[:D]

James,

I'll take you on - though I have beta version experience, I'm hardly a master of the game, but I think I'll give you a good challenge. I'd suggest you take the CSA as it's a bit easier to manage for a first game IMHO.

Regards,

- Erik

Sounds good, Erik. You have my email. Send me the first turn, when you're finished with it.

A quick question about PBEM security. I play from both home and at work. At home on the desktop, and at work on the laptop. Does switching between machines cause any problems with warnings, prohibitions, false positives?

Looking forward to the game!

Ok, will do.

Not sure honestly, I guess we'll find out as I may also have to play from two different systems.

Hey James,

As the CSA, you have to start this little shindig (a mere formality, but it's historical ;-)....

"The player designated as the Confederate side needs to start the game by having at least Union and Confederate Control selected as human players (see 3.3.1). Once the scenario is selected and started (see 3.3.8), the Confederate player will be asked to record a password. The computer will automatically go to the Save Game screen (see section 3.3.6), at which time the Confederate player will be required to save the game. The PBEM game file will be saved in the root directory of the game (in the dat/save folder), which will need to be e-mailed to the Union player."

Oh yeah...I remember seeing that in the manual. Give me a couple of minutes and it will be coming your way. You want me to use your Matrixgames email address? If not, then send me a quick message, so that I know which one to use.

Hi Erik,

The file was sent from my alternate email address. That is boardgamer AT comcast DOT net. Yahoo's email attachment scanner (Norton Antivirus) was freezing up and not refreshing the page. I don't know if this is a temporary glitch with Yahoo, and Norton, or if it is a more systemic problem, like that with Yahoo not working with Advanced Tactics game files.

Good luck and have fun.

Regards,
James

NOW....where .... have...I...heard....this ... before? I know all you staff guys are expert players even BEFORE ya get hired :-). I am slowly learning the game as the Yanks against the computer at the easy level and loving it. I always liked Gary's games even if the subject matter was not of my liking. He always has a good design and this game is no different. I might even chance a PBEM at some future point which is something I have not done before.

Good Luck

Well, I used to be a pretty good player back when I had plenty of time to wargame. [;)] Nowadays I seem to be fairly easy pickings, but I hope that a rematch will happen so that I can recover a bit of honor. [:D]

You can count on it Erik. Just as soon as we finish this first one.
