New Madrid MO

I must be missing something. 2nd turn of the game. Trying to move USA Infantry units with a movement of 4 into New Madrid from ST Louis. It is telling me that I am unable to move to that area. The area is neutral and there are no enemy units. I have had problems getting any USA units into this territory. Usually the CSA moves into that area and it causes problems getting control of MO.

Swamp (4 MP's) + Neutral (1 MP) = 5 MP's necessary to get into the region.

Got that. My follow-up question would be, how would you be able to get any infantry unit into that area?

Need a leader with 4 inf rating that has initiative I believe. 4+1 would give you 5 MPs to enter the region.

Or strategic movement by river.

Or take the region with cavallery then move in infantry afterwards. My AI opponent usually does this too. [;)]

Or strategic movement by river.
This is the real answer - the cavalry strategy is another choice, but I think doing it with river transport is the easiest way overall.

Thanks for the replies.
I really need to read the manual I guess.
