...and although this can seem a little bit off-topic for most of the publishing era (although I have great fun reading Napoleonic stuff right now), I am sure you'll find especially worthy everything that was published between 1939 and 1945...

Just type "Repulse Prince of Wales" or "Singapore 1942", and have a look at genuine vintage news of the time. I am pretty impressed by what they could say as soon as December 11th about the formers, for instance...
