I'm pretty disappointed with lack of flight simulator

I mean, it feels a bit two dimensional and air strikes leave a lot to be wished.
There was an old C-64 game called Bismarck - The North Sea Chase. It was a strategic game when one was hunting for Bismarck.
When one sent planes to kill it, one had to make a torpedo run. It greatly improved the game.
It would be a big improvement if after calling an air strike, one would become a pilot and would fly over the battlefield and attack enemy units with bombs and rockets and missiles.
It would add another dimension to the game and would be a very realistic way to handle air strikes.

Yes, that is planned for the next release.
The price of full virtual reality suits should have dropped enough by then for us to throw in a couple with every purchase.

Cool[:)]. Will there be an additional module that will allow to play a cook[:D]? One could make special food to increase morale before missions[:)] .

No, but USO troupe will be included.
I'll play Bing Crosby... working on the vox cues now.

Apparently I'm not going to hear the end of this. [:D]

Hey, CC could be improved by mixing it with Guitar Hero[:D]. Player would play a concert to raise morale of soldiers between battles. Think about how realistic it would be[:D].
Suzie Q would give an extra morale boost[8D].

Or you could just add a grand camp and make crawling soldiers crawl instead of skid along the ground like frozen crap. [;)]

Yeah, a grand campaign would be great. I'd love to see CCMT with a CC3-style grand campaign, but without that capitalist-style army thing where one has to buy units and can be forced to buy units and could end up storming a heavily defended city with a mortar and a rifle squad.
Capitalist armies suck.
A nice TO&E unit + some attachments bought for points would make me happy [:)] .
Just imagine being a M1A2 Tank Platoon commander tasked with defence of a town and assisted by a platoon of light infantry in Red Storm Rising style.
You could defend the town against multiple waves of Montanyan tanks and mechanized infantry [:D] .
After some time you would be running out of reinforcements while the enemy would bring worse and worse tanks and mechanized infatry [:D] .

And stop soldiers from getting stuck in close combat. And make an AI that isn't dumb [:D] .

I think a CC 3 style campaign would be a lot of fun combined with CCMT's excellent innovations. The biggest thing is to get a campaign of some sort into the game.

or is that to get the game into a campaign?

CCMT's excellent innovations.
Err...
There aren't any excellent innovations in CCMT[:D].
Actually, taking in account that the only new things since CC3 (1998) (or maybe rather CC2 [1997]) is vehicles transporting soldiers (Command & Conquer had it in 1995 - and it had an AI that actually used APCs), digging in (nothing spectacular - it was technically possible as placement of elements in form of cratering and defending units getting trenches was present long ago. Again, AI doesn't use this feature), multiplayer (again, C&C had it long ago. With multiple AIs), controllable airstrikes (not fully functional as aircraft/helicopters can't be attacked) and artillery (again, nothing spectacular) and walls that are obstacles (with AI that isn't capable to function correctly with such wall setting. Also, those walls are not only obstacles. They are indestructible obstacles.), I would rather talk about an appalling lack of innovation in tactical gameplay.
That would be a few minor features after 10 years.
Major problems are still here.
Player still has to notice and memorize muzzle flashes (which is a job of soldiers), the game still lacks a height map/overlay that would allow to judge which firing position is good (it's a 3d game with 2d graphics - it needs some kind of representation of height).
More, it's a game about modern warfare which doesn't simulate guided missiles, different armour types with different resistances to different damage types, AA weapons, treats helicopters as normal aircraft, etc., etc., etc.
Manuals are even worse - they slowly eroded from 162 page detailed CC1 manual with over 50 pages of background information to ascetic 80 page technical manual of CCMT without any fluff.
Yeah, one thing that actually got much better during these years is map graphics on some of the maps - mainly the desert ones.

Yeah. And probably it's not going to happen. They said long time ago that it would take more effort/resources than they can afford to spend[:(].

There is a new version of WITP coming out. Basically some fans decided to try to put together a better game with Matrix behind them. But it's almost completely fan driven. It would be nice to do the same with CC. I think CC has found a good home with Matrix and I would like to see it developed further. I still think CC is one of the greatest concepts in computer gaming. If there is anyone here who knows programming perhaps a fan created CC with campaigns, etc. would be possible.

Well, I suspect that if there were programmers in CC community able to create a CC-style engine, it would be done long time ago.
The closest thing to CC that I saw is
Sean O'Connor's Firefight where programming, data and graphics were done by one man.
I'd buy a copy long time ago, but it has a bug that makes it refuse to run on my comp in more than 256 colours and limited moddability.
It's a real firefight - I just launched a demo ten minutes ago and I quickly ran into a situation where there wasn't a single enemy visible, but almost every my squad was firing at enemy muzzle flashes - streams of tracers were raking the ground and buildings, raising small puffs of smoke.

I think what would be best of all is an extremely modable CC with a more comprehensive editor, one in which you could design the type of campaign you want. Right now it seems that only a few gurus are capable of creating new campaigns, maps and scenarios. For me that would be the ultimate CC, make it more modable for the average player. [:)]

Making new campaigns, maps and scenarios isn't really a problem of editor as current editors are pretty easy to use.
The worst thing about new campaigns for mods is the obscene amount of data required. In CCIV-V they need forcepools of tens of battalions for every day of the campaign and every difficulty level.
Similarly maps - they aren't ordinary tile based maps, they are works of art that look beautiful if well made, but need a skilled artist to make them.
Currently, CCMT is easiest to mod, because it doesn't have the campaign and the modder doesn't have to face the horror of creating detailed battlegroups for every day of the campaign.
Practically the hardest thing are artistic skills again - vehicles, icons, sounds and writing a good OpOrder.
A simplified tile-based map editor would probably make the mapping easier, but it would cause the map to be ugly.
