My current project - Faux Fields

I thought that if you can put a track around the field, why not a whole new field.
The field in the pic is just a single bmp file. Mine kinda sucks up close, but I think that it can be improved.
It is basically a plane, created just above the real field, with a texture of a field attatched. This way, you could add anything and everything to the field, even have soccer field lines on it, baseball stuff like when the Reds and Bengals shared a field, or Chargers/Padres.
This one is sized to the US-Pro field.
I will get the items together and release it on my site. Then, those of you more talented than me might want to try and make a better field texture. Making an entire field is tough.
Also, experimenting with the texture size may make the field look better. Not necessarily the one I made, but any future versions.

surely you mean those with talents in other area's than you,
we each have our high's and lows in the talent area.
anyway, let me gather up some stuff for ya bro,
I have a shed load of grass textures and stuff, somewhere on this PC[8|]
I'll email you a pack, when I find 'em

I just uploaded a zip with the stuff in it. If you want to make your own field and use it in a stadium, just open the stadiumdata.txt file of the stadium your using, add this line:
MESH:track.x:0:0
Make sure track.x and track.bmp are in the folder as well

I'm glad to see this, that way we could have a two tone field texture.

Just played my first game with the turf and it works great. This will help a lot with my NFL Tour project. Could you make a 50 yard blank field too? This is what I have been trying to do with the turf, but couldn't until now do it.
Thanks,
TheRhino

Gary I tried this and it works fine when playing day games, but gets frozen when playing night or weather games.....

Cant imagine what that would be. It's an object like any of the other ones in a stadium.

The game probably sees it as a simple object rather than the field itself.
But not sure entirely

Gary did you ever put that running track around the field.I`ve had fun using that file took forever to get it to go on a Canadian Field then I made a Metric CFL Field .Curious about the track because theres one in Edmonton I am not artist but would like to see a track so I can add it to my edmonton file.I guess that sounds kind of like a request lol
