Is there any advantage to moving your AC & TC into battle?

as I recall, an AC "army modifier" may help with committing the troops.
If they command and win, the CR goes up; if they lose, it goes down. Presumably they must be present on the battlefield for this to happen.
If the AC remains with his army (same region) and gets initiative, all the leaders in the same region also get initiative.
It is historically accurate in the era before radios.

An Army Commander has to be in the same region as the attacking or defending units to assist in ground unit combat commitment and by extension aid in the battle with his die roll modifiers. A Theater Commander only has to be linked. When there is more than one AC in a region, the ranking leader is picked.

Just so we are clear, I am referring to after Initative is achieved and combat begins.
So it is advised to send your AC & TC into battle with your units.

Your AC, almost always. Your TC, only if the battle is pretty much a sure thing. For one thing, a loss may result in your TC losing Cmd, which is one of the factors that determine whether he gains initiative. For another, if it is an offensive battle, then your TC may be moving out of a good high pop/factory location that offers maximum help, into some location that won't assist him as well in the upcoming turn's initiative checks.
