What is the mod? Does it fix the supply issues by the black sea. If you hold the port you should have supply out from that city, original WIR does not work like this. What other changes are there in Possum? Does it balance the 41' scenario? If so in what form is the balancing? Why do so many experts prefer Possum? HAve you tried the newest Version of Possum, ithink 6.1 is it bug free?

Thank you,

I haven't seen a later version than Possum 3.3.  If you read the supporting doc's, there was a great deal of adjusting units to be more historical.  Unit names were shuffled, and upgrade paths adjusted.  I, personally, think that he went too far with the Axis Minors.  Not that there are errors, but I think he just put too much of the game resources on their units.

Flanker then did another mod to Possum that adjusted it further.  I think Flankers main focus was to make it very difficult for Axis to beat SOV in '41.  He did this by creating a new map which moved some RR lines a bit so that Moscow was not so much of a straight line.  Flanker also backed a few of the Axis Minor units out and repalced them with other German equipment.  He also adjusted equipment values a bit and used a different equation to do so.  I'm not a sufficient modeling expert to evaluate the Pro's/Con's of these two methods.

Bottom line is that I thnk Flankers focus was game balance and the original Possum mod was historical accuracy.

You will find all Possum mod evolution and changes from standard version in the notepads.Basically he was looking for an update of soviet forces and balance the game. Not only the mod gives to the soviets more forces also the experience of all soviet troops is higher! More balanced..
He did a great work. For me, is more interesting to play Possum, IMHO.

Next dumb question (have not played the game in YEARS!) - does the game have the alternate counters that Rich Deone (misspelled) created? If not (since Rich's website is gone to the ether), does someone have them?

Disregard - Reading is fundamental (after looking at the readme file)....
One of the most famous Polish modern writers (unfortunately R.I.P. now) Stanislaw Lem once announced such a postulate, called later 'Lem's trillema':

1. Nobody reads anything;
2. If somehow, by accident, somebody reads something, he will not understand anything;
3. If somehow, by accident, somebody reads something and understands something he will immidiately forget what he read...
