1)Game England 1792 1.2.25, reach 1794 and in one turn England's happiness went from +176 to -760???
No wars, plenty of food, wine and all courts at level 2, culture levels 1. tax rate was increased from the very first turn to 16 and showed no negative effects. No sneaky diplomats in country. Only negative thing I did was decline to be a East Prussia's protector because Russia was going to attack it. Well a few turns later the negative number went over -900 so I just started over again. Now I have played about 6 short campaigns to get familar with things and my happiness rating was always going over into the +200's and rising.

2)Colonies? it shows a plus income (70) from some colonies but how do you know who and what they are? Where do put your merchant ships to reap the money from those off the map palces?

did you check the morale page ?

click on the diplo button, opens up a screen, click on country detail, then look at the little blue line on the side of your nations name, it will be a tool tip with the national morale, then there are little boxes to the side, the 2nd one will give info on what is going on with your morale each month, click on that to open it up and see what made the drop in morale

that is a pretty drastic drop for not thinking anything was wrong, make sure you are looking at the right numbers, you may of been looking at your glory numbers thinking it was morale

Merchants, move them to a sea zone, that don't have other merchants in it, privateers will try and steal what you get from that zone, money goodies from the colonies is free, no work is needed to bring it in

(only one, your merchants will work against each other if in the same zone)

Well I don't have the old files to look at in the saved games? Good riddens! when I statred a new game they were overwritten? Just bizzare game. I'm At Britain 1795, but made sure I got a few protectorates early by using diplomates working together using their charm to get Portugal and Hesse/Brunswick/Baden. My people are very happy that I'm whipping the Prussians in Mecklenberg and now have Berlin at my feet.

Your right about those merchants, I keep moving them around away from pirateers and they bring in a good income, I'm getting $120 vs $70 as before.

Normally as England, you don't want too many land locked provinces, it is the only real way you can be hurt

with your navy, you should be able to keep everybody away from your shores

but if France is weak, go for it
