I've had two CTD's with the new patch. Both of them occured when I attempted to save the scenario. And both were against the AI. First the game would lock-up and then the CTD??

Trivia: CTD is what old timers on mainframes, and waaaay before desktops, used to call ABEND (Abnormal Ending).[8D]

Is anyone else experiencing this? I ran a few tests since yesterday with v1.010 and had no CTDs. Treale, can you spot any pattern in what exactly you are doing before you CTD?

Union against the AI. It happens when I attempt to do a save. It did it once as the Confederates against the AI. First the game locks up and then the CTD. It politely asks if I want to send a report to Micrsoft....

Please keep your autosave on (if you haven't turned it on already) while we try to duplicate. Any additional info appreciated since it's not misbehaving for us right now.

I was having multi mouse freeze ups and a quick blue screen, then a reboot. I could play a few minutes or a few hours before one happened again. I reinstalled my keyboard & mouse software used different saves and other such things but the mouse freeze ups kept happening till a nice person responded to my appeal for help. Two things he suggested I try were touse a USB to PS2 adapter and up date my video card . That is when the light went on and I remembered had a Raid card fry and had to have OS and all reinstalled and the was a year ago. My video card had not been updated sense then. After doing so everything seems fine. Talk about brain farts LOL. I know its a bit dumb but make sure your video card is using the update.
If the crash involves the mous try a USB/PS2 adapter if you can.

I had another CTD last night while the AI was going through it's turn. I'm at a loss as to what to do??? This is only with the patch. Before the patch I did not have any problems???

Treale,
We've done a lot more testing with absolutely no CTDs post-patch, so something must have gone wrong on your system that didn't on ours. My first suggestion would be to try uninstalling and reinstalling the game and update (after backing up any save files you want to keep). Make sure you delete the installation folder after the uninstall (after backing up any save files you want to keep) to make sure it's totally cleared out.
Regards,
- Erik

I keep thinking that the players having CTD's should:
No multitasking only run the game
latest video & sound drivers
window mode
I was getting intermittent mouse freezes and reboots with a blue screen that went by to fast to read. This was going on before and after the patch. I reinstalled my mouse and keyboard software, went back to my USB setup (never did like the wireless). On a suggestion from a player here to check my video drivers and sure enough they were 1 yr. old! After updating them I have had no problems.

I just got the game yesterday, dl'd installer and patch, and on my first game the game locks up at the end of the AI turn in 8/61. Tried loading the autosave 3 times with the same result. I've sent the file in an email to Joel and hope it helps out.
My video and sound drivers are all recent, and surely I shouldn't need to reinstall... can't see what that would do since I just installed it.
Between this and Napoleon in Italy I'm starting to lose faith, but hopefully 2by3 will be on top of this.

This certainly has to be system specific. A few questions:
1. Can you post a DxDiag file for us?
2. Have you updated to the latest v1.010 Update?
3. Have you tried restarting a new game to see if this is repeatable for you without the same save file
