I downloaded and have been trying this 1.4 version from matrix for about 5 days.

Was working fine going thru manuel and tutorial.
No changes to my computer or anything now all of a sudden. I go to start menu to start ToS game and screen where it starts up appears grey bar along bottom gets half filled and they game just dissappears never starting. Does anyone know how to get it working again?

I made no changes ADDed nuthing new to my computer.I ran Scan disk and my Nortan software to check for errors but found none.

Any help would be appreciated. i was getting to like this game.

What kind of system do you have? What are the specs?

Go to the progs directory and try starting the modules (battleW.exe, battleX.exe, ...) one by one. Do they work ?

Yes larkin they worked like that. win 98 128megs ram 333 mhz puter.
I recieved a private message on some things to try. I uninstalled and reinstalled it ewworked for about 12 hours did it again. I redid it and updated my DirectX stuff and so far no problems. I was on directX5 got DirectX 8 now.

Is it because my slow computer chip?

I hae a Pentium 155 with 40 megs Ram, and ToS runs fine...

Only a little slowdown when online, but fixable by shutting off the music and animations.

There was a time when ToS would crash when I was running winamp at the same time. The battleW would boot up a window, then disappear as something (probably a sould glitch) would crash the program. I've since reconfigured my laptop, and it doesn't crash anymore. Is there any possibility of something similar happening with you?
