Is it unrealistic to expect...

...my Ferdinands to still be able to turn when a track is hit? THey will not fire at anything because they have no turret...but with a track gone, I would hope in the interests of staying alive, they would still attempt to turn and engage.

Reason I ask is I am on a scenario where I have 12 Ferdinands....4 are destroyed and 5 have there tracks blown. The ones with their tracks blown are, effectively, dead.

Looks like I'm going to lose this scenario because I have a swarm of Russian tanks rolling down the hill towards me and 4 serviceable tanks...3 Ferds and 1 PzKpfw

Well, one track hit won't stop them, it will just slow them down. But two track hits = mobility kill. Since they have no turret, losing mobility does make them fairly useless unless the enemy is kind enough to drive right across their front and wait for them to acquire target and fire. Non-turreted vehicles really do need their mobility in order to be useful.

How do I tell if both tracks are hit? If the "track" icon lights, it could be one of tracks, engine or driver...am I just to assume that if that icon is lit, it's dead in the water?

I'm pretty sure that when the track icon is lit, it must have gotten at least two track dmages then. I know I've had some immobilized AFVs that I could still order and even target outside their forward arc, but still wouldnt turn and I had quite a lot of time for them to to this.

The track icon won't light up unless it's lost all mobility. A single track hit will make it move and turn slower. Two track hits or a single penetrating "mobility hit" will light up the icon and immobilize the vehicle completely.

I played that scenario on normal and really enjoyed it, I think it was my favourite battle, watch out for a nasty artillery piece in the middle of the map that can only be seen once you get to the trenches in the muddy field in the left centre.

Completed it now with a marginal victory. I didn't collect either flag points, and there were alot of enemy about. I was surprised to see quite a few anti-tank "behind" where my units had progressed to.

Good battle though. Took me over a month! Good thing, though, is I'm still going back to PC:K...that is a good sign.
