Hey gang,
I've played this game off and on, and never really got into it day after day like some of the other games. I don't have all of the time in the world, but I was curious as to how to start back into this game and really conquer the learning curve if anyone would care to share. I have the WHOLE manual printed off and read it from time to time, but nothing is better than hands on. Just curious if anyone could help.

The must read threads are a good spot to start. I recommend playing against the AI a bit then trying a PBEM game of one of the shorter scenarios. Good luck and have fun[:)].

Remember, there aren't any mistakes in Witp, just catastrophic, cataclysmic strategic errors![X(][X(][X(]

Such as the time I forgot to set my carrier aircraft squadrons from training prior to a battle. Bye bye Lexington and Yorktown[:D]. I won't make that mistake again.

iv been in the same situation as u for the last few years. i must have tries to get into witp about a dozen time since i bought it back in 2004. i tried my latest attempt a few weeks ago but this time ive stuck with it and im gald i did. theres a great game in here but the learnin cliff doesnt come much bigger.
start playin the AI as the US in the may 42 till 45 scenario thats the only one ive been playin. i reckon ive restarted it 10 times after makin mistakes but thats what playin the AI is all about.
u will find there are lots of "undocumented" features shall we say that arent explained in the manual and that probably means u will be makin a fair few posts, i know i have.
welcome to the addiction that is witp[:)]

Remember to make sure you put your fighters back on CAP after training and rest in a safe port-- or the Enterprise will be sitting in drydock for a month I got lucky 2 bombs and 2 torpedoes --I wanted to slap myself.
The AI knows when you have no CAP. Stay focused.

There is no getting around the time demands that playing this beautiful game require. With that said, pick one of the smaller scenarios and jump in. Don't be afraid to make many, many mistakes. They are all very good lerning opportunities. [:D]
I didn't do it this way. I wanted the entire Pacific Theater, and nothing less was going to satisfy me. I think it took me longer to get off and running because of this, but Thread, I love this game! [8D]

For me, I found that starting a grand campaign (Scen 15) as Allies, but with all theathers except indiaBurma set for AI control. That gives you only the Brits to control. Some air, some land, and some sea, without going over-board.
The AI will essentially play itself for the rest of the Pacific, and let you concentrate on learning the game in the limited area that is Burma.

Well thanks for the input, I actually play it a lot, and just mess around and always start over, because I found something I did wrong a handful of turns ago that is kicking my but.
