Cheats? Not a cheat?

I thought that there may be specific strategies in TOS that is not exactly noticeable or perhaps is not included in the manual. Here is one that I've been using for years but until now realized that most other players didn't know it.

Has anyone else noticed that if you have a weapon in a specific location that has 2 types of attacks such as Punch and Large Laser in the ARM for example. If you shoot the LL you cannot punch. If you punch then you cannot shoot the LL. However, there is a little workaround this. After using one of the weapons exit the firing window and then reclick on the attack button. You can now fire the other weapon in that location. This helps a lot when trying to alpha strike or if you think your time is up and you need to strike with every weapon available. Note* This does not work quite the same way in an online battle. This is only for the nonnetwork game. Unless someone knows differently.

It works in the online games too, as far as I know.

I use it all the time in on-line games myself, didn't think that it was a secret.

It does work even better in network games ! In normal games there might be a delay if your jock fails his reaction check. To speed up network games this delay is cancelled. If not for this delay I had already programmed the window to stay open all the time.

Well, the main reason for my posting that was to see if anyone had other 'techniques' in TOS they may have thought were public knowedge but wasnt'. This is a just a good place to share this knowledge.

Hey hey now, you're not trying to get us to release all our cats out of our bags are you? <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> Or is this testing for weaknesses that will be eliminated in the beta version?

There was also the GM cheat, which is now not a cheat but a 'reaction duel'. Very cool.
And the hovering titan cheat has also been "closed" with the hovering penalty.

Most "cheats" in the battle module are reaction related like Larkin said. They sometimes work against you, especially in netgames.

I'm more concerned about the factory/hq design cheat.

Don't care much about xp cheats. Its the player who is cheating himself. But I would like to know each cheat nevertheless. Please write me an email so I can decide if its worth to close this hole.
You can still use v1.4 and feel good using it :-)

I think the factory/hq design cheat was possibly the ability to remove the life support from a design if an android was pilot. If not that then I have no idea at present. I didn't consider that a cheat really as the life support still protects vs damage to the pilot so the android would get more damage than normal without a life support. Is this correct?

Nope, that's not it. I'll mail Larkin about it.
I'd consider the LS thing a bug BTW, cause the rules state that a titan must have a LS (whatever the jock's race). But it's not really important, cause it does benefit even androids.

You are right, Iceman, as ever. It's a "featurefull" <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> bug and it is already removed for the ToS-WS version of the factory. <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">

That's good, Marga.
And Lark, what about the 'Stinger' bug, did you manage to reproduce it? <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Umm, I started to play ToS again lately after some time. And since I didn´t have my old team/titans, I cheated. (too lazy to start all over again).
Anyway, since this thread is about cheating, I just wanted your opinion on the team of me and my friend.

We both have cyborg jocks, all attributes 20, all skills 100 (duh!)

We both have light titans.
We have made some tests, but last widely used titans were like this:
Mine.
Armor: over 100 points in all locations (can´t remember the accurate amount)
Equipment: All, best (or better)
Weapons: 15 Neutron Blasters. (I usually fire 8, then 7 after 2 secs in between)

Some other attributes worth mentioning:
BMT: 12
Weight: about 500 tons
Energy: about 80 free, when not reloading.
Heat dissipation: -86 C/second
HTH hit damage: 29 points
HTH kick damage: 41 points
Scan height: 50 or 60 meters, can´t remember whitch

My friend had similar design, except he has 15 large lasers, and he fired them in groups of 5 with 1,2 or 3 sec intervals.
He also had heat dissipation of -300C/second.(althought enything over 150 is pretty useless)

So, any comment on our titans? I mean I know they are complete overkill (specially the 15 neutron blaster, you fire them all and you usually kill the jock inside the titan.), but has anyone else made these monsters? Or anything similar?
What do you think of them? And could we use them in Net combat? Larkin? Would they work? *evil grin* <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Comments accepted.

Congrats using a hex editor without breaking your fingers. I don't care about cheating. Have fun with them and hope you don't meet me in online battles.
