new weapon thread

just supposed i'd make a thread for new weapons... new weapons being weapons planned to be implemented into the game, weapon suggestions so we don't end up with a swarm of threads about weapon ideas...
anyways i have a suggestion:

missile weapon, "Mini-rockets" fires a round of 5 missiles, each dealing 1 pt damage. reload time is 10 secs, ammo would be ~30 shots per slot (not sure about this, whats the ammo/slot for the MG?), heat would be ~10 C (same as above, same question) and range would be 4. takes up, oh, 2 slots (+ ammo) and costs 1000 more than MG.
if you haven't noticed i'm comparing it to the MG. the idea is basicly a more powerful (albiet spead out) missile version of the MG. no specials for it though; it doesn't shoot 10 missile at range 0 like an exact MG-missile conversion would.
ne ideas?

also one more thing: the weapons already planed.

There are lots of weapons already although I like the Mini-rocket idea – too much ammo though.

How about some more equipment?

New Equipment idea -Battery/Capacitor.
Type A B C
Value 3 4 7
Weight 2 3 4
Slots 1 1 2
Recharges energy weapon in same location a number of PU’s immediately.
Takes 3 times the PU value to recharge itself – at, say, 1/3rd PU per second – using 1PU from the engine to do it. E.g.; Type B recharges to full in 12 seconds using 12 PU, and can then recharge a non-full energy weapon in it’s location by 4 point immediately – this is in addition to any that the engine did that turn.

Effect- would probably knock a couple of seconds off the recharge time.

Idea - Allows a heavily energy-weapon armed Titan to recycle quickly when the capacitors are full. Or give a one-shot light Titan a faster ROF on it’s big energy weapon.

More Equipment

Cyberdyne Systems T1000 Nano-robot armour repair system.

Different to DCS (or could be part of DCS). A slot containing a ‘carton’ of nano-robots. Automatically, or when selected via DCS button these nano-robots crawl to any deep holes in the armour, form a crust over the area then ‘fuse’ together to become new armour. Has a limited number of charges, similar to flares. Each succeeding level repairs more armour in more damaged areas, faster.

Since heat seems to be the worst problem in so many cases, how about having a system that lets you battle heat buildup?

A coolant depository, from plain-vanilla 'mk I' to 'Military-CF-X' (Grade 6), having a set number of charges (say, 7?), each allowing you to slice off a set number of degrees of C off your heat rating instantly? A number of such liquids ( heat capacity exceeding water's) already exist today, why not in the future?

I like the ideas of extra equipment. Here is something similar to it:

Rocked propelled Artillery shells.

Basicly, titans would have a special equipment, whitch would allow for say 3 rounds of artillery be used.
To use it, the titan should stand still (maybe) and keep a lock for hex for maybe 10 secs. Then the shell would be launched from artilery outside battlefield, and it would hit the battle ground maybe 15-30 seconds later. (what are shell flight times for heavy artillery?) Effect could be same as exploding a titan engine in that location (and the shell could come as airdrop). Different versions would allow more efficient rounds to be used (like engine 3,5,7,A). Since I can“t see how this would take lots of titan slots or weight, I guess it should cost a lot in order to be balanced.

What do you think?

I've heard that all sorts of airstrikes and tactical nukes and the like are strictly banned as ideas. If we're to keep the scale of TOS in the tactical side (and not strategical), weapons of mass destruction must be avoided.

In duels, I think most weapons would not have a huge impact. however, once you get going with 4 squads with many titans each you'll find that some weapons become extremely dangerous in packs while others do not rise in collective danger. Missiles are usually not very effective in a duel. But get 3 or more Napalm missile titans in a battle and they are devastating. I have set enemies titans into critical heat with a full NM titan team. 2 N.M'14s are good but try getting hit with 8 of them. That is around a 200 degree potential heat increase? Once the enemies start exploding it just feeds the reaction.
