Two human teams vs AI over the net

I and a friend have tried a few times to set this sort of battle up, but it always seems to go wrong ... the host sets up his own random team, plus the two AI teams, but we have problems (I suppose) with assigning players to teams correctly.
Could someone step me through it some time, please? My ICQ is 126242132; you may already have me on your list (Peter Y).
Thanks

Team 1 and team 3 ally
team 2 and team 4 ally

What this means is:

You set your friend to team 3 (just click on the team# itself and it will change). You as host keep team #1. Add a team and set it to team 2.

make sure when deciding on teams you choose random player team for you and your friend and random AI team for the computer.

You and your friend can play against team 2.

If you feel extra lucky go ahead and add a team 4 as well set to random AI team. I usually set the AI skill level 2 levels higher than mine but any skill level should be fine.

Thanks for the details; I'll try it out, and tell you how it goes.

It may take a couple of tries but trust me on this. Its not that difficult and its also a nice way for players to gain a bit of experience.

In TOS:Warring Suns you'll be able to change the teams balance. that means you can set the AI squads to be smaller or larger than normal. Depending on how brave you plan to be.

Let me know how it works out.

Thanks, Eric, that worked perfectly. I think that what caused the trouble is seeing my pre-existing teams displayed when I'm setting up my random teams for the net fight.

The host sees the AIs titans' actions; is it possible to prevent this?

I'm glad I could help.

I think that all AI teams can be seen by the host.
This does distract from the game a bit. One way around this is to make the AI an ally of your team. When 3 players want to duel and need a 4th the AI can be that 4th player. Make the host be team 1 and the AI be team 3. Let the other players be team 2 and 4.

The AI was doing well enough in battles I think it eventually made it into the player ranking. I thought it was great. Except that the AI had a higher ranking than me at times <img src="frown.gif" border="0">

Player Ranking? Can you explain?

There was a player ranking going a while back, a couple actually. Players were ranked according to how many games they played, how many wins and defeats, who they played against, ...
It is not an official part of the game, just something to try to increase volume and interest of net games.
