Well EA is going to bring back Madden next year to the PC. I just wonder how much better it will be than 08. Anyway just thought I would share since I know some of you play Madden, but unless you can play with multiple rules sets it won't move ahead of Maximum Football for me.

Yes and I've wandered back to it once again (but still playering MaxFB too) - it just does things I really like that Max doesn't (free agent bidding/negotiations, salaries, and other GM stuff (plus the great graphics & animations) - I use it for this reason and for my NFL fix.

Anyway, I think it is pretty much garanteed that it (2010) won't have customizable rule sets or the custom league options. I would be willing to bet that it will end up with NextGen graphics this time around (as I really can't see them shelving it for a year and coming back without it)...

I can't help but think that a window of opportunity is closing in a way for MaxFB.

Anyway, I'll always love MaxFB and what it can do. But I certainly have room on my harddrives for both games!

Live and let live. [:)]

Well I've always used Madden for NFL rules too (thats why I seem to be Canada Mad in here)
makes no difference to me if its on PC or not for 2010, I still much prefer 2004 anyway
and I only buy Madden for the XBOX360 these days

If it has Next Gen graphics then I might buy it, but I hope they really improve the game his time around.

I bought Madden 08 the other day because it was the last one for PC. So, I guess they got me on this. I wont likely play it much at all. It's just not my bag.

I use Madden for my NFL simulation for the simple fact that it works and there are tools out there that allow for me to use it.  Max FB doesn't have these types of tools and the output from MaxFB is quite simply unworkable on a large scale.  If I used MaxFB for my NFL league I'd be replacing the GMs on a weekly basis as they get frustrated with having no idea what on earth is going on.  Only with sweat, spit, duct tape, a degree in industrial engineering, 6 years in marketing, and an expansive knowledge of Access, php, and SQL nonsense am I able to make MaxFB function for league managment.

At that point I can only justify the use of MaxFB for my CFL and CIS leagues at this point.  The Arena rules aren't there so I can't really sim Arena on it, but I'd love it if that were possible.

MaxFB is simply a fantastic framework but without the community putting as much time in as they have it simply is a framework and not a fully functioning simulation.  I love where it could go and I love a lot of what it offers, but it's limitations are quite widespread and it seems that the additional work such as Stadiums and Uniforms and Plays are just things that the community is already doing because they can.  The things that are getting pushed aside are quite frankly the meat of the issues IMO.

I'm way off topic here but I couldn't be happier about a new version of Madden.  It allows me to continue with the pro league for at least another 4-5 years after Madden 10' comes out with realistic looking players, stadiums, etc. etc.  And it always asks before it signs a player and it never custom creates a guy just for giggles.  The output is usable and the overall structure is built. Max FB needs to take a step forward at somepoint in allowing the framework it's built upon to be a capable simulation, while I'm encouraged by some of what I've read I have to eventually see some results and those 4 issues above have been around for well over a year now and I have yet to see any motion towards resolution.  The community has asked for a lot and we've gotten a lot, but in order to utilize MaxFB on a larger scale some big steps remain.

Until that happens Madden is without question the best option for someone running an NFL or US Pro Football based league and MaxFB will be a Niche product that a dedicated few reverse engineer to get the minimum necessary to run a league out of.

Just my 2 cents from a commisioner's point of view.

This thread has gone way off topic.

I have truncated it back to get back to the Madden 2010 subject.

The only thing I have now is my laptop for gaming, and MF was the only option, unless I wanted to spend hundreds on a new console and $50 on NCAA or Madden.

Though I may have to think about Madden 2010, I still have a year to do so.
