VGA problem

I recently installed a new graphics card (for messy reasons, little to do with improved graphics) ... a "Mercury Advanced Graphics Card". Although ToS works fine in full-screen, when I start up the windowed version, the desktop colours go strange (mainly black type on a white back-ground, .. normally colours on a blue-grey back-ground). This effect persisted after closing the windows, and can't be corrected through the desk-top Properties dialogue, but only by re-booting.

Even better .. I replaced the card with my original and uninstalled the Mercury software, and the problem persists.
Any suggestions? Any more information I can give that would help solve this?

Sorry, v1.4 is no longer under support.

Since its the first time I hear of this problem a quick guess is thats its not ToS messing things up.

ToS: WS will use a different, better supported grafics library.

Got it! The display had been set to 256 colours; I just needed to reset it to 32 bit true colour.
