1.4 Explosion graphic, no text

In v1.4b, I have messages turned to SOME (so I can avoid the annoying, "SO-AND-SO's Move Turn" messages.

Sometimes when I shoot at people, and I have a high chance to hit, it makes the hit noise, and the explosion graphic, but doesn't say I did any damage. Most of the time it says you did XX damage in XX Location.

Does this mean that I have not actually hit the target? or
It's usually because I don't have the target scanned, is this due to the fact that I'm not sure where I hit him since he's not been successfully scanned? or
Is it a bug? (Yes, I know 1.4 isn't supported anymore. When is the new version coming out again?)

Thanks!

No, you have hit the target, you just haven't done important enough damage for the game to tell you about. The main way the "some" and "few" messages speeds the game is by not showing these messages If you blow someones leg off or cause a Critical Hit those messages will always be shown. I would look for Warring Suns to be released in late Feb. early March. From what I'm told it's gonna seriously rock
PS: if you wanna get some practice in against a human look me up on ICQ

What's "important enough" damage? Over 4 pts?

How do most people play? All, Some, or Few messages?

As far as net play, I'd LOVE to (although I would rather my jocks don't die, it's taken a lot to build them up that much...) but I HATE ICQ, you have Instant Messanger?

On 'some' you get the hit message if you have either scanned the target or are on the same hex.

I usually play displaying all messages.

I used to play with 'all' too, but I've switched to 'some' some time ago, it makes things more interesting.

You don't have to play your jocks in net games, in fact people rarely do it. Random teams or duels are the mainstream, some tournament teams here and there (though rarely now).
