Has anyone had any experience at linking two computers with Ethernet card to play ToS? After some mucking around (the manual didn't cover all the complications!) the computers are no on each other's Network Neighbourhood, but I can't get them to pass data between their ToS programs.
Perhaps someone could talk me through diagnosis, using ICQ?

First and foremost you have to install the tcp/ip
protocol for both computers, bound to their ether cards.

Then you have to give them local ip addresses like
192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 with equal network mask 255.255.255.0 in the network configuration.

When you have done this the client must enter the host ip in battle and a connection should be possible.

Thanks. The manual with the cards and cable was ridiculously incomplete, as it didn't cover this business of setting addresses for the TCP/IP. I've set fixed addresses for the ethernet card protocols, and left the other TCP/IP protocol (for the modem) to generate an address automatically. The ethernet connection now works ok; I've still to try the other for an ICQ game.

It worked perfectly! It might be worth putting a bit about it in the WS manual sometime.
