Out of the darkness that is within each of us - and accompanied by the vile taste of fear that was me before the first of man feared the night -, imprisoned in a sarcophage of metal and steel, I have found my way.
I was happily playing ToS1.2 for more than a year now, until I stumbled last week upon 1.4.... yeah! Internet!
So, having lightheartedly killed off my team of 8 1.2 champion-jocks, I am now looking for a new challenge to arise - and behold! Even the AI fails morale checks.

(Or so it seems to the inexperienced eye.)

A lot of improvements have been made to the AI in Warring Suns. Also, maps can define enemy behaviors so it won't be as easy to determine how the AI will act. Patrol patterns can be defined, ambushes can be set, missile titans will stay put and bombard you from a distance. In Titans of Steel (v1.4) there is a tendency to just wait for the AI to attack; putting you in a defense position. This isn't the case with most Warring Suns maps.

Forgive, my message was not meant as a criticism of the AI, but rather as a welcome-yell to ToS-Gamers around the world.
I very much delighted in the discovery that now, finally, the AI gangs up on targets instead of every titan stumbles off alone after the closest enemy.
One of their biggest mistakes is now that they don't seem to notice or care if a friendly titan in Line Of Sight is under fire... (especially if its from a friendly team).
Playing in Hell for the first time was pretty funny too. I never noticed the raise in Heat with my titans until the first one suffered from an ammo explosion right after the first skirmishing contact. I mean, I always ran with my Mirage to the next highest hill, showered a friendly GM and LRM-greeting to the first enemy I saw, and then begin a lengthy Scansession. How could I know that the Mirages' Heatsinks were not sufficent to handle running around and firing a welcome, and that it's unwise to travel near a lavastream...
Ah, well. Great game. Fun stuff. If you need betatesters for Warring Suns or any ToS-version to-be-released, which I doubt you do, feel free to cry for help.
Or, to say with the topic: WOOOHOOOOO... 1.4. rocks.

Karacan: do you have an ICQ number? Mine's 126242132. I'm always looking for a chance to learn from experience. (Remember to mention ToS if you send a contact request)

Sad Glad: It's not clear from your note whether you have Titans of Steel v1.4 yet. It's a free download.
Problem is, I don't know where you can download it from: not, apparently from the matrixgames site download page.
I've been away from the forum for a while, so I don't know if Vicious Byte has managed to install themselves into a new site yet ... but that was where most of us got our copies from. Ask around for playing manuals, too.

I guess you cannot yet get tosv1.4 from Matrix but it should be up soon. In the meantime, get it from
www.titansofsteel.de
It is also available at cnet, zdnet, gamehippo, and lots of other websits. It shouldn't take to long to find a copy.

Its not THAT easy as
www.titansofsteel.de is down again.
The link at Matrixgames is ALSO down and most freeware sites
like CNET and other just have a link to one or both of these two.
The only place I know you can find it for sure is :
http://www.sarna.net/btech/files/progra ... _of_steel/
