Hello,

I finally decided to purchase the game and was disappointed to see that there was only one set of icons available for all nations; nitpicky I know, but a peeve of mine. I'd love to work up a 2D nation-specific counter mod like I did for SC a long time ago. Is there any chance of adding this functionality in for us modders?

Otherwise a great game so far. Looking forward to the patch.

I should clarify, I mean just for the major powers, including Italy. Sort of like SC had theirs arranged.

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks again to jbunnelle for his fantastic SC1 counters.  After they came out, they were the only ones I ever played with until of course SC2 showed.

It's a great suggestion, I'm not sure what would be involved in making it possible, but we'll add it to the wish list. I'm sure the developers will chime in as well.

Thanks, SeaMonkey, glad you enjoyed them.  Just because I'm a tinkerer, I might work on a map mod for this game in the meantime.  I know JMass and others are already doing this, so I'm not sure how far into it I'll go.

Also, I don't mean the 3D icons, but rather the 2D icons WITHOUT the Nato symbols.  I assume those images are hardcoded, as I don't see them anywhere.

Yeah they are there.

Look at "unit_counters.png".

The NATO symbols are "unit_counters_sysmbols.png".

But only one set for all countries.

Sorry, found them.  One suggestion would be to use the system used by Hearts of Iron 2, where the files were not included in a patch but allowed to be added by the modders if named correctly.  So "unit_counters_symbols_GER.png", etc.  Less work on your end as far as manually creating the files themselves.  I'm no coder so I might just be talking out of my ass.  Wouldn't be a first or anything.  [:D]
