Lend lease event (41 scenario)

41 scenario, I'm playing USSR against the AI.
I get the lend lease event, which says I'm supposed to get 50pp from the US every turn via convoy.
Do I get those 50pp automatically or do I have to set up convoy myself? I tried setting up a convoy but it didn't work which is quite reasonable since I shouldn't be able to manage the US convoying of pp to me.
Clarification is greatly appreciated.
