Removel af granted access

Issue 81 in mantis correctly sums up the rules for granted access as follows:
So the net effect is:

(a) you may grant access to an ally or neutral power. If you are playing with the optional rule you may only grant access to an ally.
(b) once you have granted access, you may not require forces present in your country to leave, although you may prevent new ones from entering.
(c) once you have granted access to an ally, then breaking the alliance does not revoke that access. Only a declaration of war automatically revokes that access. Even if you are playing with the optional rule that restricts you such that you can only grant access to an ally, breaking the alliance does not revoke that access once granted.

EiANW allows you to garnt access to allys only by checking a box.
As long as that alliance exists you can uncheck it, thus prohibit access for that ally for forces not allready present in your territory, according to (b) above.

Two questions:
1) Has this been tested? When unchecking access box does that prevent anymore forces to enter and the same time lets forces allready present remain endlessly?
2) When an alliance is broken the checkbox goes away, preventing unchecking it. Result is you can only stop your allys from sending more troops over your border, while former allys can keep them coming. Is this the intention? (Allow me to doubt [;)] )

Not issue 81, but similar problem.

We actually had an issue on our PBEM game where the access granted by an ally appeared to be revoked by the game (i.e. the player allowing access did not uncheck the box (it remains checked), but access was downgraded to temporary). We are waiting until the next diplomacy phase to see if it can be corrected.

This is in Mantis as issue 181 and should be fixed in the first 1.04 beta.

Correct Del, issue 181 it is...
... and I understand and accept that you cannot force any corps to leave once they are inside and you allowed it. I am not expecting automatic removal of access once an alliance is broken, so this is a related but different case.

Let me refrase my question:
1) What is implications of unchecking the 'grant access' box?
2) Why is it not possible to uncheck that box, if you are no longer allied with the guy ?

It shouldn't be that granting access allows that nation to enter your territory with more corps for the rest of the game, should it?  That seems to be the case if he breaks alliance while the box is checked.

All I ask is, that the box is available for being unchecked, even when no longer allied.

To be honest I don't know, and won't until Marshall releases (to the test team) the 1.04.01 alpha/DEV release, expected in the next few days. There are a huge number of changes in this release -- 39 bug fixes and enhancement requests just in this point release alone, and so Marshall's spent quite a bit of time baking it and the test team will no doubt need some time before it gets properly hammered, so be patient on this one.

No doubt Marshall and the Matrix team, and/or I will keep everyone updated here. However this is one of the many issues we're tracking for the next (post-1.03 release) beta and it won't go to beta release until this is working to everyone's satisfaction.

Thats fine Del. And I'm very impressed with long list of resolved bugfixes shown for 1.04 in Mantis.
You guys rock [:)]

But as issue 181 is closed, maybe I should make this a seperat issue?

Well it's not closed, just marked as resolved in a yet-to-be-tested release.

At the moment the correct fix should include (a) the ability to turn off access for ex-allies who are no longer allies, and (b) corps granted access already in your nation may continue to remain after access is turned off, however new ones may not enter. How Marshall has implemented this may differ based on programming constraints -- I think the database may include "access" or "no access" on a nation by nation rather than unit by unit basis, and so it may be the case that it's not possible to implement such a change. We'll see what comes out of the code, however.

Del:

I cooked 1.04.01 at Gencon and found a few circle back issues so I'm refixing a few fixes. Will keep you posted.
