Taking a different tack...
I just bought an eee PC, and am wanting to make GOA ultraportable.
Is it possible to alter a config setup file to a screen resolution that is not included in the radio-button options?
I need a 1024x600.
thanks in advance

No, unfortunately
I need a 1024x600.

I'll just add that resolution to the game. Hopefully the 600 vertical won't be a problem.

Agent S, if you run the game now on 1024 by 600 resolution what happens at the start screen, are you able to scroll down and select options or are you unable to get past the start screen?

Thankyou Frank,
(great to see support for this, right from the top!)
I have set the screen resolution to run at 'virtual 1024x768' and the screen is able to scroll down and take in the complete picture, so even though I'd like to see if it is possible to run it at 1024x600, it works fine as is.
So thankyou again for the speed of the response.
For anyone interested, the following games work on small screen ultra-portable notebooks,(eee PC, etc...)
  • Anglo-German War (8/10) (game is almost entirely map, minimal interface, runs any resolution)
  • Tacops (10/10) (small maps, look great on small screens)
  • Guns of August (7/10) (no loss of functionality, some additional scrolling to see whole screen) very playable!
  • Advanced Tactics (7.5/10) (small map scearios available add the half point)
The following games don't work.
  • Commander Europe at War (0/10) (does not start, and ignores virtual 1024x768, and returns error message).
  • WW2 Road to Victory (2/10) (runs but does not display lower 200 pixels)

Agent 5, in the latest version I added a 1024 by 600 version but the problem is the start screen. I can't make it smaller. Are you able to, using the scroll bar, set your options on the start screen (including selecting 1024 by 600) and then continue from there in 1024 by 600 resolution?

It appears the start screen is the issue.
I need to start the game in 1024x768, as I  miss the section with the sound and graphic options and the continue button at the bottom.
Resetting the game from 1 resolution to another is probably not feasible, as the settings only take place after a restart, and then the start screen would be cropped.
So given I'm still enjoying the game, with only a minor inconvenience of additional scrolling, you can probably drop the 1024x600 option.
Thanks again for your efforts on this, I'm probably the only one trying to run wargames on a tiny screen [X(]

Well, in 1.24, if you start the game in 1024 by 768 and then select 1024 by 600 at the start screen you will be able to play the game without having to scroll to stuff off-screen.

Frank,
Thanks for taking care of just 1 player with an unusual request.
1024x600 works fine.
I really appreciate your consideration.
regards
Andrew

I somehow run into problems with the 1280x800 resolution with the new patch. Even though that is my screen resolution it looks like this. I have to use a smaller resolution to see the status bar on the bottom of the map.

Was there a 1280x768 before? If so I used that up to now. But the option is gone.

Goodaye Frank,

Having just bought your game I'm very impressed. Well done.

Could I put in a request for 1920 x 1200 resolution which is pretty much the standard for a 24" widescreen LCD?

I realise you already have a lower 1920 res. with a recent patch but it fails to take full advantage of the 24" necessitating lots of scrolling.

Of course none of this is a big deal but if you're going to add another res. or two, can 1920x1200 be put on the list as well?

Cheers,
Lancer

I occassionally use the 1280 x 800 resolution and I have a 1360 x 768 native display. I can just squeeze it in by hiding part of the top bar on the window.

For instance when I use 1024 x 768 everything is good, so if 1280 x 768 was available, life would be good.

Oh, and thanks Frank for supporting all these resolutions. I'm sure its a pain, but the game looks great widescreen. [:)]

Edit: I thought I would add that even though the monitor is native 1360 x 768, I set the resolution and game sometimes to 1600 x 1200 and this works great and sometimes obviates the need for the jump screen.
