Are there any reviews that compare the three (I think) strategy Matrix Civil War Games? Basically, how are they similar/different is what I'm looking for - something to help guide me on a purchase.

I love the old Talon Soft Batrleground Games! They aren't too frilly or advanced compared to new games but they are blast to play, are quick to run, and are reasonably cheap. Nemo and I have an AAR of Gettysburg running right now.

I think there was such a review - or was it one comparing ETO grand strategy games ? Can't remember really. What I do have is links to individual reviews - here goes :

Check out the third post in the above thread. It helped me to decide.
Ended up buying FOF because it gave me the option to fight detailed tactical battles if I wanted. Practically two games in one.

Yeah, me too - got them all. However, I was thinking more on the lines of strategy rather then battlefield tactics.

Thanks. Taken all together it should (haven't actually linked yet [:)] ) give me a good idea. I thought I remembered one too (it's gotta be out there!).

I'm sure that is true, Erik, but I'm betting that they are not exactly the same too[8|] - may get around to getting all three but that first pick is golden. [:D]

Go to the FOF site and you will find links comparing the various ACW games. FOF is a great game both at strategic level and (if you select it) detailed tactical battles - a fine combination. It has a wide range of options enabling a player to choose between a basic version or far more complicated ones and at advanced level has incredible depth. Highly recommended.
