I apologize for asking something I should probably know already, but I am still unclear on this:

Is it so that Siege Arty is ONLY good at reducing "fort" levels of Forts and nothing else, ie they dont cause reduction in Trench levels or cause troop casulaties? Or, perhaps they do reduce entrenchment levels for the hexes they are fired at, but do not cause casualties?

Siege artillery can be used against any target just like artillery, however, its increasingly less effective. Siege artillery is not increased in value the way regular artillery is when artillery tech increases a level. So its okay in the early game but if you have regular artillery use it instead.
