Because now there are so many veterans that have a lot more knowledge than I could ever expect. Thanks to all the guys that are so helpful to greenbacks such as myself.

you are just right, I got the game in April 2008 and what I read on the forum since then + what I know about the real war, will put noobs like us almost into striking distance of the veterans once AE gets released. Until then I will keep training against the AI

there is always room for a 30, 100, 365, day pbem, but can you blame him not starting a four year, at my speed that is eight years, somewhere 2016[:D], game now that AE is just 4-12 month away??? (some of you will probably call me an optimist)

Yeah well I personally dont feel good enough to take on you "PROS" but my buddy and I sevred together.
We used to play Carriers at War on his Apple on base. Then when we went on deployment we played
Starfleet Battles all the time. Other GI's drank all night we played on a hexmap till dawn.[:'(][:'(][:'(]

At some point a player realizes that the AI is very predictable. A trait you wont find in a good opponent. After you are comfortable with slaughtering the AI I would try at least two or three PBEMs with WITP before migrating to AE. The learning curve is steeper with PBEM than with the AI.

Deanver Well maybe is a good answer What kind of house rules? Have you played PBEM before? What scenario? Mod? etc. I'm more worried about screwing it up than winning as I am not a computer whiz

All good questions. I've never played a PBEM, so I have no clue what to do or how to get ready anyway. Maybe we can learn together.

wELCOME TO THE FORUM. This game for me still has a long learning curve and After playing off and on sense its release I still have a hard time with the AI Jap (I can't understand the production rules) so I play the Allies.
I would play at least one game through as the Allies before considering a human PBEM game. I enjoy playing the game for its historical content and attempting to learn good enough to play a PBEM game because a PBEM game is a long investment of time and till I get better It would be a waste of time for a decent (or indecent) Jap player of even beginning ability LOL.
I read the WHOLE manual and understood enough to at least start a game. I still have that uneasy feeling that even though I know how to do many thing in the game I have no idea HOW the game works the way it does. I know enough to play but it will be a bit longer till I understand it better. Some players find it works better to learn the basics and plunge right into a PBEM game because after getting beat they learn faster. If that is your style then go for it, if not spend some time playing it against the computer. Either way welcome to the best wargame group on the net....They do not get much better than these folks
