I ran accross a Japanese blog that has many digitally colorized photos of IJN ships. It's a little fake, and I wish I could read Japanese to surf around more, but some of the products are amazing. Just one example, a colorized Fuso is attached. Here is the link:

Many of the photos I recognize as famous shots. Seeing them in color is pretty mind boggling.

These are stunning. Ive seen a few of them before, like the one of the 1928 era Kaga.

This one is definately one of the most impressive.

might be because they were built on the hull of a different ship class. That might be why they look like someone took a large knife and sliced all the super structure from the ship and put a deck in its place. One thing for sure they don't have the grace of the American carriers.

Japanese carriers had very small islands, or in some cases, no island. It makes the proportions look odd, like a big husky guy with a small head.

BTW, these pictures are very nice. A few do look a bit odd, but most look like they were originally in color. Whoever is doing the colorization is doing an excellent job.

Hey what's the story with that one that Elouda posted of the big ship on fire next to land? Was it at port and getting attacked?
