Having just bought the game(it's great!) I'm confused over ZOC. Manual and forum searches have failed to provide enlightenment.

I've figured out that each SFT exerts a certain amount of ZOC over any adjacent hexes.

Eg. a Rifle squad has a ZOC value of 1 so a division of 40 Rifles would have a ZOC value of 40 which shows up when you click on any adjacent hex.

What I'm unclear over is how that number (say a ZOC value of 40 for a particular hex) affects another (enemy) units ability to move into the hex. Could a bunch of enemy light tanks stream right past my rifle division ignoring ZOC? Would they be stopped from doing so if my ZOC value was higher at say 60?

And does different terrain effect ZOC's? Eg. is it harder to exert ZOC in rougher terrain than in clear?

A final question (unrelated) regarding Political points. I've figured out how you make them and how you spend them but is your stock of PP's affected by your losses and success's in battle (or anything else)?

No. Only you spending. You also can recover PP spent on formations/HQ by disbanding them.
