Strat Move into Belgium

In an ongoing game the ET declared war on Belgium and the Netherlands because the CP had done an East first strategy. Now after the DOW I wanted to strat move some units to help my new allies, but I can't. The system says its a control. But those are on my side. I can do normal moves though.

How can Belgium and Netherlands be allies to the ET when the ET declared war on them?

My guess is those two countries are hard coded to be ET friendly once they enter the war. The same as the Ottomans are expected to be in the war only on the CP side. The ET declaring war on Belgium and Holland are far out of the bounds of historical possibility and don't reflect diplomatic relations prior to the start of the war. It is a gamey thing to do. Perhaps Frank should should just remove the "war" button for Belgium and Holland from the diplomatic screen for the TE player so these sort of things just don't happen.

Guess you're right.
Although someone could come up with some alternative history scenario that causes all of these nations to go war with the other side. (e.g. the Ottomans not allowing the Goeben to enter the Dardanelles and sinking her when she is trying to force her way; Belgium or Holland cooperating with Germany or breaking the blockade etc...) The game offers the option to change the hardcoded side for Italy, Greece and Romania already.

And since the East-First Strategy seems to be the most played one these days, a counter-Schlieffen by the ET becomes more attractive.

I've played a short bit where I DoW'ed Holland as the TE's trying to break around the deadlocked western front because they would not help the TE out by joining the war. The logic there is a lot like the effort by the Allies in WW2 to preemptively invade Norway.

If I recall correctly, if the ET declares war on a minor the Germans should be able to strategically move units there the first impulse of the following turn, not the current turn.

It's a two-edged sword. In the case in question, Holland has surrendered to the ET, but HQ points must still be spent to cross the remaining Holland-controled hexes.

Ok. Sadly Holland didn't make it to the next turn, and neither did Belgium (with the exception of Liege, that I could reinforce.
